| 1 | AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 3594 | ||||||
| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 3594 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following: | ||||||
| 4 | "Section 5. The Illinois Articulation Initiative Act is | ||||||
| 5 | amended by changing Section 15 as follows: | ||||||
| 6 | (110 ILCS 152/15) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 15. Participation. All public institutions shall | ||||||
| 8 | participate in the Illinois Articulation Initiative through | ||||||
| 9 | submission and review of their courses for statewide transfer. | ||||||
| 10 | All public institutions shall maintain a complete Illinois | ||||||
| 11 | Articulation Initiative General Education Core Curriculum | ||||||
| 12 | package, and all public institutions shall submit and maintain | ||||||
| 13 | up to 4 core courses in each of the Illinois Articulation | ||||||
| 14 | Initiative majors, provided the public institution has | ||||||
| 15 | equivalent majors and courses. All public institutions shall | ||||||
| 16 | provide faculty, as appointed by the Board of Higher Education | ||||||

| 1 | for public universities and the Illinois Community College | ||||||
| 2 | Board for public community colleges, to serve on panels in the | ||||||
| 3 | review of courses. | ||||||
| 4 | If, in a given academic year, a public institution does | ||||||
| 5 | not have an equivalent major, lower-division courses, or both | ||||||
| 6 | that align with the major panel's descriptors and course | ||||||
| 7 | approval criteria, then the public institution shall be | ||||||
| 8 | considered to be compliant with this Section for that academic | ||||||
| 9 | year, as determined by the Board of Higher Education and the | ||||||
| 10 | Illinois Community College Board, in coordination with the | ||||||
| 11 | director of the Illinois Articulation Initiative. | ||||||

| 13 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | ||||||
