2023 and 2024 SB3594 Introduced 2/9/2024, by Sen. Cristina Castro SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED: | | | Amends the Illinois Articulation Initiative Act. In the provisions concerning participation, provides that all public institutions of higher education shall submit and maintain at least one core course (instead of up to 4 core courses) in each of the Illinois Articulation Initiative majors, provided that the public institution has equivalent majors and courses. Provides that if a public institution does not have an equivalent major, lower-division courses, or both, that align with the major panel's descriptors and course approval criteria, then the public institution shall be considered to be compliant with those provisions, as determined by the director of the Illinois Articulation Initiative. Effective immediately. |

1 | | AN ACT concerning education. |
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly: |
4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Articulation Initiative Act is |
5 | | amended by changing Section 15 as follows: |
6 | | (110 ILCS 152/15) |
7 | | Sec. 15. Participation. All public institutions shall |
8 | | participate in the Illinois Articulation Initiative through |
9 | | submission and review of their courses for statewide transfer. |
10 | | All public institutions shall maintain a complete Illinois |
11 | | Articulation Initiative General Education Core Curriculum |
12 | | package, and all public institutions shall submit and maintain |
13 | | at least one core course up to 4 core courses in each of the |
14 | | Illinois Articulation Initiative majors, provided the public |
15 | | institution has equivalent majors and courses. All public |
16 | | institutions shall provide faculty, as appointed by the Board |
17 | | of Higher Education for public universities and the Illinois |
18 | | Community College Board for public community colleges, to |
19 | | serve on panels in the review of courses. |
20 | | If a public institution does not have an equivalent major, |
21 | | lower-division courses, or both, that align with the major |
