Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that a household that does not include an elderly, blind, or disabled person shall be considered categorically eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits if the gross income of the household is at or below 200% (rather than 165%) of the nonfarm income poverty guidelines updated periodically in the Federal Register by the U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by |
5 | | changing Section 12-4.13a as follows: |
6 | | (305 ILCS 5/12-4.13a) |
7 | | Sec. 12-4.13a. Gross income eligibility standard; SNAP. |
8 | | Subject to federal approval if required, a household that |
9 | | includes an elderly, blind, or disabled person shall be |
10 | | considered categorically eligible for Supplemental Nutrition |
11 | | Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits if the gross income of such |
12 | | household is at or below 200% of the nonfarm income poverty |
13 | | guidelines updated periodically in the Federal Register by the |
14 | | U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services under the |
15 | | authority of 42 U.S.C. 9902(2); and a household that does not |
16 | | include an elderly, blind, or disabled person shall be |
17 | | considered categorically eligible for Supplemental Nutrition |
18 | | Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits if the gross income of such |
19 | | household is at or below 200% 165% of those nonfarm income |
20 | | poverty guidelines.
