| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate veteran member State | ||||||
| 4 | Representative Dan Caulkins on his retirement and thank him | ||||||
| 5 | for his service to the State of Illinois; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Rep. Caulkins was elected in November of 2018 and | ||||||
| 7 | has served the House since January 2019; he served the 101st | ||||||
| 8 | and the 88th Districts, following remapping, which included | ||||||
| 9 | all or portions of Champaign, DeWitt, Piatt, Macon, and McLean | ||||||
| 10 | counties in central Illinois; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, During his time in the General Assembly, Rep. | ||||||
| 12 | Caulkins served on a number of committees, including | ||||||
| 13 | Appropriations-General Service, Public Utilities, | ||||||
| 14 | Prescription Drug Affordability, Energy and Environment, | ||||||
| 15 | Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, and IT, and Labor and Commerce, | ||||||
| 16 | as well as the Occupational Licenses subcommittee; in the | ||||||
| 17 | 103rd General Assembly, he served as the Republican | ||||||
| 18 | Spokesperson for the Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, and IT and | ||||||
| 19 | Prescription Drug Affordability committees; and | ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Rep. Caulkins has been an incredible advocate for | ||||||
| 21 | the Second Amendment, stronger ethics reforms, lower taxes, | ||||||
| 22 | and the pro-life movement, and he has been a loud and staunch | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | opponent to the firearms ban, constant government overreach, | ||||||
| 2 | and non-citizen spending and will continue to advocate in | ||||||
| 3 | retirement; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Rep. Caulkins graduated from Stephen Decatur High | ||||||
| 5 | School and attended Eastern Illinois University; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Prior to his service in the Illinois House, Rep. | ||||||
| 7 | Caulkins served for 20 years in the United States Army and is a | ||||||
| 8 | retired major with the Illinois Army National Guard; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Rep. Caulkins is committed to public service, | ||||||
| 10 | which he continued after his military service by serving on | ||||||
| 11 | the Decatur City Council for four years, as a trustee for | ||||||
| 12 | Eastern Illinois University, and on several other community | ||||||
| 13 | boards and committees; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Rep. Caulkins worked for manufacturing giant ADM | ||||||
| 15 | and several other companies, and in 1989, he founded a company | ||||||
| 16 | to build and operate a 19-bed group home for developmentally | ||||||
| 17 | disabled adults in Sullivan; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Rep. Caulkins became the chief operating officer | ||||||
| 19 | of Patterson House, Inc., an assisted living facility, and was | ||||||
| 20 | responsible for day-to-day operations; through his leadership, | ||||||
| 21 | it expanded to include three homes and two CILAs with 74 | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | residents and over 100 employees; and | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Rep. Caulkins has been married to his wife, Jo, | ||||||
| 3 | for over 50 years, and they reside in Decatur; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 5 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 6 | we commend State Representative Dan Caulkins on his | ||||||
| 7 | distinguished service as state representative and wish him all | ||||||
| 8 | the best in his future endeavors; and be it further | ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 10 | presented to Rep. Caulkins as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
| 11 | respect for our colleague and friend. | ||||||
