HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Fire Chief Andrew Dina of
4the Warrenville Fire Protection District on receiving the 2024
5Fire Chief of the Year Award for combination fire departments
6from the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Warrenville Fire Protection District covers
818-square miles of residential, commercial, and medium
9high-rise buildings and serves a population of 20,000
10residents, with a daytime labor composition consisting of
1140,000 people; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Fire Chief Dina has worked in the fire service
13for decades, initially serving as a paid-on-call firefighter
14with the Westmont Fire Department in 1985 before serving as a
15full-time firefighter/paramedic with the Broadview Fire
16Department from 1986 to 1989 and then the Naperville Fire
17Department from 1989 to 2019; he joined the Warrenville Fire
18Protection District in 2019, where he assumed the position of
19fire chief in September 2020, later obtaining his Chief Fire
20Officer Certification, the top certification in the State of
21Illinois; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Fire Chief Dina has given his time to several

1professional and community-based organizations, serving as
2president of the Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Association of
3Illinois and as president of Division 16 of the Mutual Aid Box
4Alarm System (MABAS), and he is the former chair of the DuPage
5County Emergency Telephone System Board (ETSB) - Policy
6Advisory Committee; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Fire Chief Dina, as a cancer survivor, has
8dedicated his time to assisting his fellow firefighters in
9cancer prevention and awareness as a mentor for the
10Firefighter Cancer Support Network and as a teacher at the
11Illinois Fire Service Institute in Champaign, and he continues
12to visit a variety of firehouses regularly to discuss steps
13that can be taken to prevent cancer; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Under Fire Chief Dina's leadership, the
15Warrenville Fire Protection District has sought to uphold its
16mission of responding to and mitigating emergencies in a safe
17and efficient manner, serving its community by providing
18high-quality public education, fire prevention, and risk
19reduction services and displaying a high level of respect and
20compassion for residents, visitors, and one another; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Through Fire Chief Dina's stewardship, the
22Warrenville Fire Protection District has continually exhibited
23the qualities of respect, integrity, passion, and dedication

1that are necessary to serve its community effectively and with
2compassion; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Fire Chief Dina has led the Warrenville Fire
4Protection District to more safely and efficiently respond to
5calls in the pursuit of excellence in emergency and
6non-emergency situations, while also creating a connection
7between the Warrenville Fire Protection District and the
8community it serves; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we congratulate Fire Chief Andrew Dina of the Warrenville Fire
12Protection District on receiving the 2024 Fire Chief of the
13Year Award from the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association, and we
14recognize his continual commitment to providing dedicated and
15empathetic service to his community as well as his masterful
16direction of the Warrenville Fire Protection District over the
17past four years; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to Fire Chief Andrew Dina as an expression of our
20esteem and respect.
