2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Fire Chief Andrew Dina of |
4 | | the Warrenville Fire Protection District on receiving the 2024 |
5 | | Fire Chief of the Year Award for combination fire departments |
6 | | from the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association; and |
7 | | WHEREAS, The Warrenville Fire Protection District covers |
8 | | 18-square miles of residential, commercial, and medium |
9 | | high-rise buildings and serves a population of 20,000 |
10 | | residents, with a daytime labor composition consisting of |
11 | | 40,000 people; and |
12 | | WHEREAS, Fire Chief Dina has worked in the fire service |
13 | | for decades, initially serving as a paid-on-call firefighter |
14 | | with the Westmont Fire Department in 1985 before serving as a |
15 | | full-time firefighter/paramedic with the Broadview Fire |
16 | | Department from 1986 to 1989 and then the Naperville Fire |
17 | | Department from 1989 to 2019; he joined the Warrenville Fire |
18 | | Protection District in 2019, where he assumed the position of |
19 | | fire chief in September 2020, later obtaining his Chief Fire |
20 | | Officer Certification, the top certification in the State of |
21 | | Illinois; and |
22 | | WHEREAS, Fire Chief Dina has given his time to several |

1 | | professional and community-based organizations, serving as |
2 | | president of the Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Association of |
3 | | Illinois and as president of Division 16 of the Mutual Aid Box |
4 | | Alarm System (MABAS), and he is the former chair of the DuPage |
5 | | County Emergency Telephone System Board (ETSB) - Policy |
6 | | Advisory Committee; and |
7 | | WHEREAS, Fire Chief Dina, as a cancer survivor, has |
8 | | dedicated his time to assisting his fellow firefighters in |
9 | | cancer prevention and awareness as a mentor for the |
10 | | Firefighter Cancer Support Network and as a teacher at the |
11 | | Illinois Fire Service Institute in Champaign, and he continues |
12 | | to visit a variety of firehouses regularly to discuss steps |
13 | | that can be taken to prevent cancer; and |
14 | | WHEREAS, Under Fire Chief Dina's leadership, the |
15 | | Warrenville Fire Protection District has sought to uphold its |
16 | | mission of responding to and mitigating emergencies in a safe |
17 | | and efficient manner, serving its community by providing |
18 | | high-quality public education, fire prevention, and risk |
19 | | reduction services and displaying a high level of respect and |
20 | | compassion for residents, visitors, and one another; and |
21 | | WHEREAS, Through Fire Chief Dina's stewardship, the |
22 | | Warrenville Fire Protection District has continually exhibited |
23 | | the qualities of respect, integrity, passion, and dedication |

1 | | that are necessary to serve its community effectively and with |
2 | | compassion; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, Fire Chief Dina has led the Warrenville Fire |
4 | | Protection District to more safely and efficiently respond to |
5 | | calls in the pursuit of excellence in emergency and |
6 | | non-emergency situations, while also creating a connection |
7 | | between the Warrenville Fire Protection District and the |
8 | | community it serves; therefore, be it |
9 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
10 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
11 | | we congratulate Fire Chief Andrew Dina of the Warrenville Fire |
12 | | Protection District on receiving the 2024 Fire Chief of the |
13 | | Year Award from the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association, and we |
14 | | recognize his continual commitment to providing dedicated and |
15 | | empathetic service to his community as well as his masterful |
16 | | direction of the Warrenville Fire Protection District over the |
17 | | past four years; and be it further |
18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to Fire Chief Andrew Dina as an expression of our |
20 | | esteem and respect. |
