2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the Naperville Fire | ||||||
4 | Department on the occasion of its 150th anniversary; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, The Naperville Fire Department was founded in | ||||||
6 | 1874, growing with the population of the town from a small | ||||||
7 | volunteer unit to a department with currently more than 200 | ||||||
8 | paid personnel and 10 different stations across Naperville; | ||||||
9 | and | ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, The Naperville Fire Department has effectively | ||||||
11 | responded to numerous emergencies over its 150 years of | ||||||
12 | service, including the Naperville Train Wreck of 1946, the | ||||||
13 | North Central College's "Old Main" Fire of 1997, and the EF-3 | ||||||
14 | Tornado of 2021, and has saved countless lives in the process; | ||||||
15 | and | ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, The Naperville Fire Department has attained | ||||||
17 | international fire accreditation status for six consecutive | ||||||
18 | 5-year cycles, longer than any other fire agency in the State | ||||||
19 | of Illinois; and | ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, The Naperville Fire Department has the further | ||||||
21 | distinction of being the only fire department to provide a |

1 | Community Advocate Response Team (CART), which provides a | ||||||
2 | unique service designed to combat incidents before they become | ||||||
3 | medical emergencies; and | ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, The Naperville Fire Department has the ability to | ||||||
5 | provide an all-hazards response through its other special | ||||||
6 | teams, Hazardous Materials, Tactical EMS, Technical and | ||||||
7 | Special Rescue, Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), and Water | ||||||
8 | Rescue; and | ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, The Naperville Fire Department has been a | ||||||
10 | cornerstone of the Naperville community for 150 years, | ||||||
11 | connecting with residents and creating a strong sense of | ||||||
12 | community for all while ensuring the safety and security of | ||||||
13 | its city; and | ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, The Naperville Fire Department remains committed | ||||||
15 | to serving the needs of the ever-changing City of Naperville | ||||||
16 | as it continues to put the community's needs first; therefore, | ||||||
17 | be it | ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
19 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
20 | we congratulate the Naperville Fire Department on its 150 | ||||||
21 | years of service, and we commend all individuals who have | ||||||
22 | served and are currently serving the Naperville Fire |

2 | community and the residents of the City of Naperville; and be | ||||||
3 | it further | ||||||
4 | RESOLVED, That we honor all firefighters who have perished | ||||||
5 | in the line of service to the Naperville Fire Department, | ||||||
6 | recognizing their ultimate sacrifice while protecting their | ||||||
7 | community; and be it further | ||||||
8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
9 | presented to the Naperville Fire Department as an expression | ||||||
10 | of our esteem and respect. |
