HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Kevin O'Gorman on the occasion of his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Kevin O'Gorman, the son of Irish immigrants, was born on the South Side of Chicago; he graduated from Oak Lawn High School; he attended Washburne Trade School and completed his apprenticeship with Carpenters Local 141; and

WHEREAS, Kevin O'Gorman worked as a union carpenter in private and public settings and spent a good portion of his career training new apprentice carpenters; he was been proud to work with his hands in a meaningful career; and

WHEREAS, Kevin O'Gorman's career culminated in his work as assistant to the executive secretary-treasurer and political director for the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council; and

WHEREAS, Kevin O'Gorman also served in other union roles, including as Local 141 recording secretary, Local 141 president, Local 141 and Local 10 delegate to the council, Local 141 and Local 10 delegate to the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America International Conventions, AFL-CIO delegate, AFL-CIO COPE representative, CFL delegate, CFL COPE representative, and CISCO board member; he retired in 2022 with 40 years of membership in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America; and

WHEREAS, Kevin O'Gorman believed strongly in the work he did and spent his entire career working to create a collective voice and protecting working people; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Kevin O'Gorman on his retirement, and we wish him the best in all of his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kevin O'Gorman as an expression of our esteem and respect.
