HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Chief Luis C. Tigera on
4the occasion of his retirement after more than four decades of
5service in law enforcement; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Chief Tigera started his career in law
7enforcement with the Niles Police Department in June of 1980;
8he held a variety of positions, including public service aide,
9communications dispatcher, and reserve officer until he left
10to join the Illinois State Police in 1985; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Chief Tigera held a number of positions with the
12Illinois State Police from 1985 to 2004, which included the
13rank of trooper, sergeant, master sergeant, lieutenant,
14captain, and major; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Chief Tigera served as the deputy administrator
16for the Illinois Gaming Board from 2004 to 2008; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Chief Tigera held the rank of region one
18commander with the Illinois State Police from 2008 to 2009; he
19served as first deputy director of the Illinois State Police
20from 2009 to 2011; and

1    WHEREAS, Chief Tigera was named chief of police for
2Broadview in July of 2011, serving through April of 2017; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Chief Tigera returned to where his career began
4and became the chief of police for the Niles Police Department
5in July of 2017, where he led the department through a period
6of transformative growth and innovation; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Chief Tigera holds a master's degree in police
8administration from Lewis University and graduated as a member
9of the 182nd session of the FBI National Academy; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Chief Tigera's career will be remembered for his
11dedication, vision, and unwavering commitment to both his
12officers and the community, and he leaves behind a legacy of
13excellence and leadership; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
15HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16we congratulate Chief Luis C. Tigera on his retirement after
17more than four decades of service in law enforcement, and we
18wish him the best in all of his future endeavors; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to Chief Tigera as a symbol of our respect and
