2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Annie |
4 | | Lee "Tut" Jones Turner, who passed away on September 21, 2024; |
5 | | and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Annie Turner was born in Whaley, Mississippi to |
7 | | Allen and Katies Jones on December 23, 1935; she attended |
8 | | Whaley High school in Whaley, Mississippi; the family later |
9 | | moved to Greenwood, Mississippi, where she married Ollie |
10 | | Turner Sr.; and |
11 | | WHEREAS, Annie Turner's family moved to Chicago in 1955 to |
12 | | pursue better opportunities; she was a member of St. Paul |
13 | | Methodist Church for 20 years and later joined Apostolic |
14 | | Church of God, where she was a faithful member; and |
15 | | WHEREAS, Annie Turner would meditate and read her bible |
16 | | every morning; she took care of her family, had a strong sense |
17 | | of right and wrong, and had a beautiful smile; she was an |
18 | | organized and efficient woman and had words of wisdom for |
19 | | everyone she met; and |
20 | | WHEREAS, Annie Turner was preceded in death by her |
21 | | parents; her husband, Ollie Turner Sr.; her sisters, Alberta |

7 | | Sammie (Dorothy) Turner, Barbara (Troy) Fletcher Harris, Ollie |
8 | | (Beverly) Turner, Connie (Floyd) Ogilvie, Ranell Turner, |
9 | | Dwight (Chris) Turner, Andre Turner, Patricia (Dwayne) Henley, |
10 | | and Sharon (Michae) McCoy; 20 grandchildren; 31 |
11 | | great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and |
12 | | numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends; |
13 | | therefore, be it |
14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
15 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
16 | | we mourn the passing of Annie Lee "Tut" Jones Turner and extend |
17 | | our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who |
18 | | knew and loved her; and be it further |
19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Annie Turner as an expression of our |
21 | | deepest sympathy. |
