2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the Jacksonville High | ||||||
4 | School dance team, the J'ettes, on winning the 2024 Illinois | ||||||
5 | High School Association (IHSA) Class 1A Competitive Dance | ||||||
6 | Championship for the second year in a row; and | ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, The IHSA Class 1A Competitive Dance Division, | ||||||
8 | which is divided into five sectionals consisting of | ||||||
9 | approximately 90 dance teams, was held at the Grossinger | ||||||
10 | Motors Arena in Bloomington from January 26 to January 27, | ||||||
11 | 2024; and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, The J'ettes passed the preliminary round on | ||||||
13 | January 26, where the top 30 teams competed for the final 12 | ||||||
14 | spots, advancing to compete in the finals on January 27; and | ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, The J'ettes finished with a score of 90.70, just | ||||||
16 | edging ahead of Morris Community High School, which scored | ||||||
17 | 89.96; and | ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, The J'ettes successfully competed in three | ||||||
19 | different organizations, IHSA, the Illinois Drill Team | ||||||
20 | Association (IDTA), and the Universal Dance Association (UDA); | ||||||

1 | WHEREAS, The J'ettes were named both the AA Lyrical and | ||||||
2 | Open Pom Dance Champions and the AA Grand Champions at the 2024 | ||||||
3 | IDTA State Finals; and | ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, The J'ettes also made it to the semi-finals with | ||||||
5 | their lyrical routine at the 2024 UDA National Competition in | ||||||
6 | Orlando, Florida; and | ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, The J'ettes' spectacular showcase at the IHSA | ||||||
8 | Class 1A Competitive Dance Finals made its hometown of | ||||||
9 | Jacksonville extremely proud, and its dancers' hard work and | ||||||
10 | determination to win will never be forgotten; and | ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, The J'ettes are led by Coaches Tiffany Hickox and | ||||||
12 | Sarah Van Aken; and | ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, The J'ettes team consists of 14 dancers, | ||||||
14 | including four seniors, Jacey Evans, Lindsey Hautala, Kimmy | ||||||
15 | Davis, and Manager Lily Rohlk; six juniors, Kylie Chumley, | ||||||
16 | Emma Wolters, Elizabeth Stremming, Hailey Weeks, Samantha | ||||||
17 | Lawson, and Manager Marley Van Aken; two sophomores, Greta | ||||||
18 | Bryson-Adams and Lily Hickox; and two freshmen, Lauren Deen | ||||||
19 | and Charlotte Brockhouse; therefore, be it | ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |

1 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
2 | we congratulate the Jacksonville High School dance team, the | ||||||
3 | J'ettes, on winning the 2024 Illinois High School Association | ||||||
4 | (IHSA) Class 1A Competitive Dance Championship; and be it | ||||||
5 | further | ||||||
6 | RESOLVED, That we wish the J'ettes future success and many | ||||||
7 | more triumphant seasons to come; and be it further | ||||||
8 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
9 | presented to the J'ettes' coaches and team members as a symbol | ||||||
10 | of our esteem and respect. |
