| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Iron Workers Local 392 of | ||||||
| 4 | the International Association of Bridge, Structural, | ||||||
| 5 | Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers on the occasion of its | ||||||
| 6 | 100th anniversary; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Iron Workers Local 392 has been a leader in the | ||||||
| 8 | construction industry for a century, with the organization | ||||||
| 9 | currently representing nearly 650 members in southwestern | ||||||
| 10 | Illinois who are trained in the industry's latest iron working | ||||||
| 11 | and safety standards; the organization covers 20 full and | ||||||
| 12 | partial counties in Illinois, providing the safest and most | ||||||
| 13 | productive workforce in the Metro East area; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, On April 10, 1924, Iron Workers Local 392 was | ||||||
| 15 | established in East St. Louis with the objective to enhance | ||||||
| 16 | the standard of living, wages, working conditions, and job | ||||||
| 17 | security; in the subsequent years, the organization | ||||||
| 18 | effectively served the purpose for which it was founded, | ||||||
| 19 | improving the future of its members, thus providing | ||||||
| 20 | inspiration for ironworkers in other parts of the country; and | ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Through persistence and relentless pursuit for a | ||||||
| 22 | higher standard of living, better benefits, and conditions, | ||||||

| 1 | Iron Workers Local 392 has endured and overcome a great deal in | ||||||
| 2 | its 100-year history, permitting today's members to enjoy a | ||||||
| 3 | safe workplace, an excellent hourly wage, superior health and | ||||||
| 4 | welfare benefits, a generous pension and annuity, and | ||||||
| 5 | vacation; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Ironworkers are known as the "cowboys in the | ||||||
| 7 | sky", building safely and skillfully while ensuring the | ||||||
| 8 | production of quality private, state, and federally-funded | ||||||
| 9 | projects, including the Rebuild Illinois program; therefore, | ||||||
| 10 | be it | ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 12 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 13 | we congratulate Iron Workers Local 392 of the International | ||||||
| 14 | Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing | ||||||
| 15 | Iron Workers on its 100th anniversary; and be it further | ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That we thank Iron Workers Local 392, its | ||||||
| 17 | officers, and its members for their invaluable work to make | ||||||
| 18 | Illinois a leading state in world-class infrastructure for | ||||||
| 19 | generations to come; and be it further | ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to Iron Workers Local 392 and its officers as an | ||||||
| 22 | expression of our esteem and respect. | ||||||
