HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to honor the memory of Henry Cullen
4"Tony" Bryant Jr., who passed away on January 31, 2024 at the
5age of 72, leaving behind a legacy marked by diverse
6achievements and a life of service; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Henry Bryant was born in Franklin, North Carolina
8to Joyce (Cassada) and Henry C. Bryant Sr. on February 26,
91951; he grew up in the Smoky Mountains, developing a lifelong
10appreciation for nature and the great outdoors; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Henry Bryant was known for his educational and
12intellectual pursuits; he was a proud Franklin Panther and
13University of North Carolina Tar Heel, demonstrating a
14commitment to lifelong learning with degrees from the
15University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the Defense
16Language Institute, Appalachian Bible College, Dallas
17Theological Seminary, and Northern Illinois University; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Henry Bryant served his country with distinction
19as an Army Non-Commissioned Officer, showcasing his dedication
20to duty, and his skills as a linguist and educator were evident
21through his work in various countries around the world; and

1    WHEREAS, Henry Bryant's passion for the environment,
2literature, history, and coin collecting spoke to his
3multifaceted interests; he was also recognized as a musician,
4poet, and missionary, touching lives through his varied
5talents and pursuits; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Henry Bryant will be remembered for his wise
7words, "Love family, Love nature, and Read widely. And just
8know to embrace every day, because the time passes all too
9quickly.", reflecting his profound understanding of the
10transient nature of life; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Henry Bryant is survived by his loving wife,
12Gloria M. Gilmore; his children, Jennifer L. Bryant, Matthew
13C. Bryant, Joshua A. Bryant, and John G. Dewinski; and his
14grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will carry forward
15his legacy of love, wisdom, and compassion; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
17HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18we acknowledge the significant contributions of Henry Cullen
19"Tony" Bryant Jr. to his community, his country, and to all
20those he touched during his remarkable life, and we extend our
21deepest condolences to his family and friends; and be it

2suggested honoring his memory through charitable acts,
3resonating with his spirit of generosity and service to

7esteem and respect for a life well-lived and for his
8innumerable contributions to society.
