HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Daniel
4Kosiba of Niles, who passed away on January 7, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Daniel Kosiba grew up in Niles, a town he loved,
6and dedicated over 60 years of his life to serving his
7community; he had a positive impact on every single person he
8encountered along the way; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Daniel Kosiba was a Niles Park District
10Commissioner from 1977 to 1985, serving as president in 1979,
111980, and 1981, and he was instrumental as president in
12starting youth soccer; he was a board member, coach, and
13manager for the Niles Baseball League; he was the St. John
14Brebeuf Athletic Director, where in the 1970s, he highlighted
15the importance of offering sports for girls as well as for
16boys; he also served as the Niles Park District Athletic
17Director and the Niles West High School Junior Wolves Baseball
18Feeder Program Director; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Daniel Kosiba was a member of the North American
20Martyrs Knights of Columbus, where he coordinated the annual
21holiday basketball tournament at St. John Brebeuf, which had
22over 200 basketball teams/cheerleading squads competing during

1its peak years; he was also a member of the Catholic Youth
2Organization (C.Y.O) and was instrumental with baseball,
3football, and basketball city championship tournaments; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Daniel Kosiba loved being a "Pop Pop" to his
5grandchildren and spending time with his beloved pets; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Daniel Kosiba was preceded in death by by his
7parents, Josephine and Elmer, and his grandson Thomas Kosiba;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Daniel Kosiba is survived by his wife, Carolyn;
10his siblings, Christine (Keith) VanderVelde, Glenn (Christine)
11Kosiba, Joanne (Nick) Abatecola, and Lucy (Al) Livingston; his
12children, Daniel John (Plamena), Caroline (Christopher)
13Macchitelli, and Timothy (Cari) Kosiba; his grandchildren,
14Annie, Jack, Celine, Ryan, and Connor; and many beloved
15cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
17HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18we mourn the passing of Daniel Kosiba and extend our sincere
19condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
20him; and be it further
