HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, School counselors are employed in public and 
3private schools to help students reach their full potential; 
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, School counselors are actively committed to 
6helping students explore their abilities, strengths, 
7interests, and talents as these traits relate to career 
8awareness and development; and
 
9    WHEREAS, School counselors help parents focus on ways to 
10further the educational, personal, and social growth of their 
11children; and
 
12    WHEREAS, School counselors work with teachers and other 
13educators to help students explore their potential and set 
14realistic goals for themselves; and
 
15    WHEREAS, School counselors seek to identify and utilize 
16community resources that can enhance and complement 
17comprehensive school counseling programs and help students 
18become productive members of society; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Comprehensive developmental school counseling 
20programs are considered an integral part of the educational

1process that enable students to achieve success in school; 
2therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
4HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
5we declare February 5 through February 9, 2024 as School 
6Counseling Week in the State of Illinois; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That we encourage all Illinoisans to join us in 
8recognizing our school counselors who have worked diligently 
9to ensure all students in the State are afforded more equal 
10opportunities in their education and personal growth; and be 
11it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to the Illinois School Counselor Association as a 
14symbol of our respect and esteem.
