HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jeffrey
4Lee McElroy of Alton, who passed away on January 14, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jeffrey McElroy was born to Roberta Jane (Glass)
6and Frank H. McElroy in Alton on July 27, 1953; he graduated
7from Alton Sr. High School; he earned an associate's degree in
8horticulture from Danville Junior College; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jeffrey McElroy began working as a designer at
10Dick's Flowers in Wood River in 1975, where he spent 30 years
11honing his craft; he opened his own flower shop, Jeffrey's
12Flowers by Design, on January 9, 2006; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jeffrey McElroy was passionate and dedicated
14about his work; he was presented the prestigious Master Floral
15Designer Award by FTD in the mid 1990s; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jeffrey McElroy enjoyed gardening, cooking,
17shopping, and spending time with his friends and family; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jeffrey McElroy was a great man known for his
19calm, friendly, and kind nature who always made Valentine's
20Day and other occasions special; he will be remembered by

1family, friends, and clients for his support, his love, his
2smile, and his immense contributions to the community; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Jeffrey McElroy was preceded in death by his
4parents; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jeffrey McELroy is survived by his brother, Mark
6McElroy; his cousin, Barbara Bohannon-Johnson; his nephews,
7Ben McElroy and Clayton (Kristi) McElroy; his great-nieces and
8great-nephews, Nick (Angel) McELroy, Payton Jane McElroy,
9Tristan Andrew McElroy, and Khloe Nicole McElroy; his close
10friend, June Bug; and the entire dedicated team at his flower
11shop; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we mourn the passing of Jeffrey Lee McElroy and extend our
15deepest sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all
16who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Jeffrey McElroy as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
