2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Edward | ||||||
4 | P. "Ed" Myers of Sauk Village, who passed away on November 12, | ||||||
5 | 2023; and | ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Ed Myers was born on October 3, 1947; and | ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Ed Myers served Sauk Village for 52 years, | ||||||
8 | beginning his outstanding career as a firefighter with the | ||||||
9 | Sauk Village Fire Department in 1971; for his dedication and | ||||||
10 | leadership, he was promoted to engineer in 1976, lieutenant in | ||||||
11 | 1980, captain in 1991, and assistant chief in 2002, serving in | ||||||
12 | that position until his retirement in 2023; and | ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Ed Myers simultaneously served as a building | ||||||
14 | official and the code enforcement supervisor for Sauk Village | ||||||
15 | from 1986 through 2001, and again in 2021; he previously | ||||||
16 | served as the code enforcement official for the Village of | ||||||
17 | Steger for a number of years; and | ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Ed Myers was elected to the Sauk Village Board of | ||||||
19 | Trustees in 2009, and he was reelected in 2013; and | ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, For his contributions and exemplary service to |

1 | Sauk Village, Ed Myers was recognized by the mayor and board of | ||||||
2 | trustees in October 2023, receiving the further honor of a | ||||||
3 | street on 221st Street and Orion Avenue being designated in | ||||||
4 | his name; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ed Myers was the husband of the late Carol J. | ||||||
6 | (Bretveld) Myers; the father of Phillip (Sandy) Myers, Deborah | ||||||
7 | (Jeffrey) Szela, and Paul (Kandace) Myers; the grandfather of | ||||||
8 | Courtney (Bob) Myers, Lauren (Nathan) Myers, Tabbitha | ||||||
9 | Anderson, and Lucas (fiancée, Mary) Myers; the son of the late | ||||||
10 | Tommy Lee Myers and the late Elizabeth Myers; and the brother | ||||||
11 | of Tommy Larry Myers, the late Mary Langford, and the late | ||||||
12 | Sharon Meeker; therefore, be it | ||||||
13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
14 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
15 | we mourn the passing of Edward P. "Ed" Myers and extend our | ||||||
16 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
17 | and loved him; and be it further | ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Ed Myers as an expression of our | ||||||
20 | deepest sympathy. |
