2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ernest | ||||||
4 | R. "Ernie" Floyd of Waterford, Wisconsin, who passed away on | ||||||
5 | April 10, 2023; and | ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Ernest Floyd was born to Clarence and Marie | ||||||
7 | (Miller) Floyd in Tishomingo County, Mississippi on October | ||||||
8 | 21, 1929; he married Veda Long in Luka, Mississippi on July 3, | ||||||
9 | 1949; he lived in Wheeler, Mississippi and Spring Grove, | ||||||
10 | Illinois before eventually settling in Waterford, Wisconsin; | ||||||
11 | and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Ernest Floyd worked for the Johns Manville | ||||||
13 | Corporation, a company committed to manufacturing | ||||||
14 | premium-quality insulation, commercial roofing, and building | ||||||
15 | materials, for many years before his retirement; and | ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Ernest Floyd and his wife became active members | ||||||
17 | of Lakeland Baptist Church in Lake Villa, Illinois in 1952; | ||||||
18 | and | ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Ernest Floyd enjoyed an array of hobbies, | ||||||
20 | including operating his amateur radio, camping, and fishing; | ||||||
21 | he especially loved spending time with his family and telling |

1 | stories and jokes to his grandchildren and | ||||||
2 | great-grandchildren, who will pass them on; and | ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Ernest Floyd was preceded in death by his wife of | ||||||
4 | 71 years, Veda; his parents; his daughter, Jeanie Jonker; and | ||||||
5 | his brother, Bob Floyd; and | ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Ernest Floyd was | ||||||
7 | survived by his children, Betty (Diane) Gagnebin, Ken Floyd, | ||||||
8 | and Gary (Jenise) Floyd; his siblings, Colene Wright and Ben | ||||||
9 | Floyd; his sister-in-law, Sheila Floyd; 10 grandchildren; 14 | ||||||
10 | great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and many nieces, | ||||||
11 | nephews, other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it | ||||||
12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
13 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
14 | we mourn the passing of Ernest R. "Ernie" Floyd and extend our | ||||||
15 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
16 | and loved him; and be it further | ||||||
17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
18 | presented to the family of Ernest Floyd as an expression of our | ||||||
19 | deepest sympathy. |
