HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Lillian
4Mary Cherry of Chicago, who passed away on July 19, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lillian Cherry was born to Elise and Willie
6Jarvis Sr. in Chicago on January 31, 1925; she graduated from
7Dusable High School; she married Ervin Cherry on January 29,
81950; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Lillian Cherry attended Holy Angels Catholic
10Church, where she participated in many events and enjoyed
11volunteering; she was a longtime member of the Blessed
12Sacrament Society; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Lillian Cherry was an avid traveler; more than
14anything, she enjoyed spending time with her family; every
15year, she looked forward to the holidays and the Cherry Family
16Reunion, where she could visit with all of the family at one
17time; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Lillian Cherry was preceded in death by her
19husband; her parents; her brothers, Willie Jarvis Jr. and
20Wyatt Jarvis; and her cousin, Dolores Payne; and

1    WHEREAS, Lillian Cherry is survived by her children,
2Elsie, Sybil, Delores, Denise, Robbin, Darlene, Sylvia, and
3Marc; her grandchildren, Eddie, Stevie, Gene, Jerry, Patrice,
4Lisa, Tanya, Antoinette, Cheney, Donald, Dujuan, Angela,
5Thomasine, Lillian, Shenelle, Robin, Rayshawn, Jaunnine,
6Jasmine, Timmie Jr., Todd, Stephon, and Tamara; her
7great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her
8brothers, Sam Jarvis and Russell Jarvis; her sister, Nola
9Buford; and her goddaughter, Georgetta Williams; therefore, be
10it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we mourn the passing of Lillian Mary Cherry and extend our
14sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
15and loved her; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Lillian Cherry as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
