HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Robert A. "Bob" Calhoun
4on the occasion of his retirement; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob Calhoun was born in Belleville on May 2,
61935; he graduated from Belleville Township High School in
71953, where he played football and wrestled; he received a
8scholarship for football and played as a defensive back at
9Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he also
10wrestled; he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve when he was 17;
11he was on active duty with the Navy from 1955 to 1957 as an
12aviator electrician; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bob Calhoun married his wife, Marjorie, on
14January 9, 1957, and they have been married for 66 years;
15together, they have five children, 11 grandchildren, and nine
16great-grandchildren; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Bob Calhoun began working for Freidewell
18Engineering in 1957; he worked for Fruin-Colnon in 1958 and
19for Cunliff Construction from 1959 to 1974, where he started
20as a field engineer and worked his way up to vice president;

1    WHEREAS, Bob Calhoun founded Calhoun Construction, Inc. on
2November 2, 1974; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Bob Calhoun established the Little Devils
4Football organization, where he coached for 35 years and was
5the president for 34 years; he also started a wrestling
6program for kids; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Bob Calhoun served as the Jaycees state vice
8president and national director for four years; he is a
9lifetime member of the Ainad Shriners (color guard), Moose,
10Scottish Rite Temple, and the Elks; he served as trustee for
11the Elks for 12 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bob Calhoun has been a trustee for the Carpenters
13Welfare, Pension and Annuity Fund for 50 years and the
14Laborers Pension Fund for 20 years, where he still serves as a
15trustee; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
17HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18we congratulate Robert A. "Bob" Calhoun on the occasion of his
19retirement, and we wish him the best in all his future
20endeavors; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
