| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sheila |
| 4 | | Hill-Demery, who passed away on August 25, 2022; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Sheila Hill-Demery was born in Chicago to Charles |
| 6 | | and
Mattie Hill on August 23, 1965; she lived in California for |
| 7 | | a time before returning to Chicago in her mid-20s; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Sheila Hill-Demery began her
career in healthcare |
| 9 | | as a medical assistant; she
then returned to school and |
| 10 | | graduated with her associate's degree in nursing from |
| 11 | | Olive-Harvey College; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Sheila Hill-Demery continued her education by |
| 13 | | earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain |
| 14 | | College in 2017; during her
career as a registered nurse, she |
| 15 | | worked at various hospitals before finding a permanent
home |
| 16 | | with Cermack Health in the early 2000s, where she found joy in |
| 17 | | being one of the best nurses; after
over 20 years of service, |
| 18 | | she received well-deserved recognition for her hard work and |
| 19 | | dedication
to nursing; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Sheila Hill-Demery was a phenomenal mother to her
|
| 21 | | children and many others; she lived life to the fullest and was |
|

| 1 | | not afraid to show the world who she
was; some of her favorite |
| 2 | | activities included making memories with her daughters and |
| 3 | | grandchildren,
hosting family parties, and spending time with |
| 4 | | her four-legged daughter, Lexie; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Sheila Hill-Demery enjoyed helping others
and |
| 6 | | brightening people's lives; she always encouraged everyone to |
| 7 | | put their best foot forward and
not dwell on things out of |
| 8 | | their control; those who knew her understood that she was |
| 9 | | never one to sugarcoat
her words, and she did not hold back |
| 10 | | when giving advice; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Sheila Hill-Demery was preceded in death by her |
| 12 | | parents and her sister, Nicole; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, At the time of her passing, Sheila Hill-Demery |
| 14 | | was survived by her daughters, Kiah (Malcolm) and Remiyah; her |
| 15 | | fur daughter, Lexie; her grandchildren,
Mylah and Michael; her |
| 16 | | God children, Kenyonnia and Kesha; her extended children, |
| 17 | | Marcus, Shantel,
Samariah, Saarah, and Sumaiyah; her brother, |
| 18 | | Ernest and Terrance; her siblings in Christ, Corinthia and |
| 19 | | Harvey;
her first cousins, Tam and Nikeya; her childhood |
| 20 | | friends, Tracy and Rob; and numerous of nieces, nephews,
and |
| 21 | | friends; therefore, be it

| 22 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |

| 1 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 2 | | we mourn the passing of Sheila Hill-Demery and extend our |
| 3 | | sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew |
| 4 | | and loved her; and be it further
|
| 5 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 6 | | presented to the family of Sheila Hill-Demery as an expression |
| 7 | | of our deepest sympathy.
