HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Ramona
4Lisa Wilson Mahoney, who passed away on April 3, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ramona Mahoney was born to Nevin and Evelyn
6Wilson on the north side of Chicago on June 26, 1960; she lived
7in Cabrini-Greens before moving to Chicago's south side as a
8child; she attended Burnside Elementary School and Chicago
9Vocational High School; she briefly attended Northwestern
10Business College; she married Clarence Mahoney on April 24,
111991; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ramona Mahoney was a woman of many talents and
13held several jobs throughout her life, including as a clerk
14for Carson Pirie Scott & Company and Illinois Bell, an
15information specialist for RTA Travel Information, a customer
16service/account representative for Highland Superstores, an
17attendance clerk for Myra Bradwell Academy, a patient
18assistant for the Department of Human Services, a cashier/cook
19for White Castle, and a para-transit driver for Cook/DuPage
20Transportation Services; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Ramona Mahoney was a daughter, sister, wife,
22mother, and friend, titles she valued above all; she treated

1everyone's children as her own, maintaining many of those
2relationships until her passing; her favorite yearly event was
3the family picnic, as she loved seeing family and friends come
4together for laughter, fun, games, and breaking bread over a
5great meal; she was famous for her spaghetti and taco salad;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Ramona Mahoney loved family, people, and animals;
8she also loved listening to music, dancing, playing cards,
9solving crossword puzzles, watching action movies and sports,
10and spending time outdoors to experience the fresh air and the
11smell of fresh flowers; she greatly enjoyed attending concerts
12of all music genres, sporting events, comedy shows, and other
13types of cultural events; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Ramona Mahoney was affectionately known as "Moe
15Moe", "Moe", and "MaMoe"; she will be remembered for her
16gentle spirit and her ability to quickly put others at ease;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Ramona Mahoney was preceded in death by parents,
19her husband, and her sister, Lorna; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Ramona Mahoney is survived by her daughters,
21Clarissa, Carla, and Angela; her grandchildren, Tavaris "TJ"
22Jr., Raniyah, and Richard "Richie" III; her sisters, Charmaine

1and Rochelle; her brothers, Lamar (Marty), Chelsey, and Andre
2(Jennifer); her aunt, Lela Pierce; her uncle, Cleveland
3Pierce; her godson, Chance McIntosh; and a host of nieces,
4nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
6HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we mourn the passing of Ramona Lisa Wilson Mahoney and extend
8our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who
9knew and loved her; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Ramona Mahoney as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
