2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Batavia |
4 | | Police Department Officer Joseph R. "Joe" Gudella of |
5 | | Bloomingdale, who passed away on March 27, 2023; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Officer Gudella was raised in Carol Stream and |
7 | | graduated from Glenbard North High School in 2004, where he |
8 | | was the quarterback of the football team; he earned his |
9 | | associate's degree from the Worsham College of Mortuary |
10 | | Science; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Officer Gudella was a dedicated police officer |
12 | | who served with pride; he began his career with the Cook County |
13 | | Sheriff's Office in 2015, serving as a deputy for seven years; |
14 | | he joined the Batavia Police Department in January 2022, where |
15 | | he made a lasting impact on his peers and the community; he |
16 | | also suggested many community-oriented policing and recruiting |
17 | | focused initiatives, including the Coffee with a Cop program; |
18 | | he was noted for possessing a servant's heart, valuing every |
19 | | person he met, and finding the time to listen and talk to |
20 | | everyone; and

21 | | WHEREAS, Officer Gudella was an enthusiastic Chicago |
22 | | sports fan and enjoyed outdoor activities and adventures; his |
