| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Commissioner William "Bill" Wright has served as | ||||||
3 | a Commissioner of the Streamwood Park District for 15 years; | ||||||
4 | and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, During that time, Commissioner Wright has served | ||||||
6 | in various capacities, including as president, vice-president, | ||||||
7 | ethics officer, and committee chairman; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright is very passionate about | ||||||
9 | finding the right solutions that can bring significant | ||||||
10 | cultural change and make an impact for years to come; he is a | ||||||
11 | man who values community and service to the community; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright uses his personal | ||||||
13 | relationships with the business community, state legislators, | ||||||
14 | and other local officials and communities to secure funding | ||||||
15 | for or action to improve the community and help others; this | ||||||
16 | includes funding for facilities, parks and playgrounds, social | ||||||
17 | awareness, and educational opportunities to preserve and | ||||||
18 | expand our resources for future generations; and | ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, When Commissioner Wright is not working as a | ||||||
20 | Managing Director or as an Executive Search Consultant for The | ||||||
21 | Overture Group, he donates vast amounts of time and energy to |

1 | focus on helping to improve the quality of life for others; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright supports local youth and | ||||||
3 | public education by serving as the Chairman of School | ||||||
4 | District's U-46 Governing Board for Alignment Collaborative | ||||||
5 | for Education; he is a big proponent of connecting the school | ||||||
6 | district and students with the development of skills and | ||||||
7 | education needed by Illinois-based businesses, and his efforts | ||||||
8 | have positively affected nearly 40,000 students; most | ||||||
9 | recently, his leadership and commitment helped to provide a | ||||||
10 | very successful career exploration event held at the NOW arena | ||||||
11 | for more than 2,700 eighth grade students; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Over the last few summers, Commissioner Wright | ||||||
13 | helped establish and routinely volunteered at the Summer | ||||||
14 | Reading in the Parks program, which provided free lunches and | ||||||
15 | early childhood learning activities and materials; the program | ||||||
16 | was immensely successful and is scheduled to return in 2023; | ||||||
17 | and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright has volunteered as a park | ||||||
19 | district soccer coach and utilizes his skills acquired in | ||||||
20 | college playing for Lindenwood University in St. Louis; for | ||||||
21 | the last few years, he served as the South Elgin High School | ||||||
22 | Junior Varsity soccer coach and has had an impact on both | ||||||
23 | players and families alike; and

1 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright's actions led to the creation | ||||||
2 | of a free Youth-at-Risk soccer program along with free teen | ||||||
3 | programming and events, including basketball, concerts, and | ||||||
4 | movies in the park; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright helped develop the Streamwood | ||||||
6 | beer festival and Oktoberfest that are well attended, with the | ||||||
7 | proceeds earmarked for the park district scholarship program; | ||||||
8 | and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright has assisted Santa for more | ||||||
10 | than 25 years for the Streamwood Park District, the Village of | ||||||
11 | Streamwood, and the Hoffman Estates Historical Sites | ||||||
12 | Commission; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright continues to serve as an | ||||||
14 | usher for Mass at St. John the Evangelical Catholic Church in | ||||||
15 | Streamwood, as he has done for many years; he is very well | ||||||
16 | known by the parishioners and assists the Church in any way | ||||||
17 | possible when asked; and

18 | WHEREAS, Closer to home, Commissioner Wright is that | ||||||
19 | neighbor on the block who helps keep everyone's driveway clear | ||||||
20 | of snow in the winter and has served in various capacities | ||||||
21 | helping the Village of Streamwood and surrounding communities; |

2 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Wright's leadership, personality, | ||||||
3 | and actions clearly align with the legacy of the Mike Cassidy | ||||||
4 | Community Service Award, which recognizes individuals who are | ||||||
5 | doing something good for the community and contributing | ||||||
6 | something to the future; therefore, be it
| ||||||
7 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
8 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
9 | we congratulate Commissioner William "Bill" Wright on | ||||||
10 | receiving the Mike Cassidy Community Service Award; and be it | ||||||
11 | further
| ||||||
12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
13 | presented to Commissioner Wright as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
14 | respect.
