HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Lillian Marie "Lady B" Bonner, who passed away on December 26, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Bonner was born to William and Beatrice Jarrett in Alton on August 19, 1950; she graduated from Alton Senior High School in 1967; she married Charles Edward Bonner at the Greater Mount Olive Church of God in Christ on July 19, 1975; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Bonner started her career at Illinois Youth Center Warrenville in 1983; she retired in 2002, leaving behind a legacy of wisdom, kindness, love, and lifelong friendships; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Bonner committed to her faith at an early age, and she was a lifelong member of the Great Mount Olive Church of God in Christ; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Bonner was a fashionista who loved shopping and finding the best bargains, and she regularly shopped with friends while visiting Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Macy's, and other stores; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Bonner was affectionately known as "Nana" to her grandchildren; she will be remembered for her intelligence, wisdom, undeniable beauty, and beautiful singing voice; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Bonner was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her father-in-law, Bishop William Haven Bonner; her mother-in-law, Mother Dorothy Mae Bonner; her brother, Lemoyndue Jarrett; and her aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Bonner is survived by her daughter, Natalie Bonner; her granddaughter, Noelle Pryor; her grandson, Nathan Bonner-Jones; her siblings, Willa Bennett, William Jarrett, and Verrell Harley; her sisters-in-law, Willie Etta (Augustus) Wright and Dorothy (Gregory) Jones; her goddaughters, Autum Newson, Lisa Jones, LaWonna Berry, and Artese Chaney; her chosen sisters, Mary Holland, Christine Brannon, Maxine Crim, Glenda Barnes, Rowena Walton, and Ruth Green; her many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members, friends, and co-workers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lillian Marie "Lady B" Bonner and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lillian Bonner as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
