SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
5 ILCS 490/61 new

    Amends the State Commemorative Dates Act. Designates the twenty-first day of February of each year as John Lewis Day, to be observed throughout the State as a day to remember the accomplishments of the civil rights icon and to honor his legacy and dedication to public service.

1    AN ACT concerning government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by
5adding Section 61 as follows:
 
6    (5 ILCS 490/61 new)
7    Sec. 61. John Lewis Day. The twenty-first day of February
8of each year shall be known as John Lewis Day, to be observed
9throughout the State as a day to remember the accomplishments
10of the civil rights icon and to honor his legacy and dedication
11to public service.
