| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 197 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (5 ILCS 490/197 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 197. Waterway Cleanup Month. The month of September |
| 8 | | of each year is designated as Waterway Cleanup Month to be |
| 9 | | observed throughout the State as a month to encourage waterway |
| 10 | | cleanup activities in Illinois rivers.

| 11 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect |
| 12 | | September 1, 2024. |
