2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3578 by replacing |
3 | | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

4 | | "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by |
5 | | changing Sections 3-606, 3-606.1, and 3-610.1 as follows:
|
6 | | (625 ILCS 5/3-606) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-606)
|
7 | | Sec. 3-606. Members of General Assembly. Upon receipt of a |
8 | | request of a
member of the General Assembly, accompanied by |
9 | | the appropriate application and
fee, the Secretary of State |
10 | | shall issue to the member 2 plates as described in
this |
11 | | Section. Except as otherwise provided in this Section, if If |
12 | | the member so requests, the Secretary shall issue 2 identical
|
13 | | sets of such registration plates for use on 2 different motor |
14 | | vehicles. A
member may request that the Secretary of State |
15 | | issue registration plates in the
name of a corporation when |
16 | | the corporation owns or leases the vehicle to be
registered |

1 | | and the member is an officer or director of that corporation. |
2 | | Such
registration plates shall be issued for a 2-year period |
3 | | beginning January 1 of
each odd-numbered year and ending |
4 | | December 31 of the subsequent even-numbered
year. If the |
5 | | application is from a member of the Senate, there shall
appear |
6 | | on the rear plate, in addition to the designation of the State |
7 | | and the
year for which the license was issued, the word |
8 | | "official" and appropriate
wording or abbreviation indicating |
9 | | that the holder is a member of the
Senate, followed by the |
10 | | number of the senatorial district of the member.
On the front |
11 | | plate, there shall appear appropriate wording or abbreviation
|
12 | | indicating that the holder is a member of the Senate. If
the |
13 | | application is from a member of the House of Representatives, |
14 | | there
shall appear on the rear plate, in addition to the |
15 | | designation of the State and
the year for which the license was |
16 | | issued, the word "official" and
appropriate wording or |
17 | | abbreviation indicating that the holder is a member
of the |
18 | | House of Representatives, followed by the number assigned to |
19 | | the
member. On the front plate, there shall appear appropriate |
20 | | wording or
abbreviation indicating that the holder is a member |
21 | | of the House of
Representatives. Numbers 1 through 118 shall |
22 | | be assigned and members with the
longest length of service as |
23 | | members of the legislature shall be given the
lower numbers.

24 | | When members have an equal length of service, the lower |
25 | | numbers shall be
given in alphabetical order based on |
26 | | surnames.

1 | | A member of the General Assembly who has a disability as |
2 | | defined under Section 1-159.1 may request one set of |
3 | | specialized plates which display the International Symbol of |
4 | | Access and shall be subject to the provisions within Section |
5 | | 3-616. The set of specialized plates displaying the |
6 | | International Symbol of Access shall only be issued along with |
7 | | the assignment of a corresponding disability placard that must |
8 | | be displayed in the vehicle. The surviving spouse of the |
9 | | member shall not be entitled to retain this plate. |

25 | | and transfers the registration to his or her name within 90 |

1 | | days of the death of the retired member.
|
2 | | A retired member of the General Assembly who has a |
3 | | disability as defined under Section 1-159.1 may request one |

13 | | or (b) is 62
or older, has served as a member of the General |
14 | | Assembly for a minimum of 4
years, and retired prior to the |
15 | | convening of the 83rd General Assembly.

16 | | The fees and procedures relating to such plates for |
17 | | retired members of
the General Assembly shall be the same as |
18 | | the fees and procedures applicable
to personalized plates |
19 | | issued under this Code.

Upon receipt of a request from a |

delegation, |

of State shall issue to the retired member special |
2 | | registration plates
bearing appropriate wording

congressional delegation. The plates may be |
5 | | issued for a 2 year period
beginning January 1st of each |
6 | | odd-numbered year and ending December 31st of the

8 | | An applicant shall be charged a $15 fee for original |
9 | | issuance in addition to
the applicable registration fee. This |
10 | | additional fee shall be deposited into
the Secretary of State |
11 | | Special License Plate Fund. For each
registration renewal |
12 | | period, a $2 fee, in addition to the appropriate
registration |
13 | | fee, shall be charged and shall be deposited into the Retired
|
14 | | Members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation Fund.
|
15 | | A retired member of the Illinois Congressional delegation |
16 | | who has a disability as defined under Section 1-159.1 may |
17 | | request one set of specialized plates which display the |
