SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Gloria D. Thomas Twine; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Gloria Twine was born to Reverend Huey Taft and
5Anna Louverda Thomas Sr. in Birmingham, Alabama on October 12,
61934; she graduated from Arthur Harold Parker Vocational
7School in Birmingham, Alabama; she later attended Alabama A&M
8University in Huntsville, Alabama; she married David R. Twine,
9and they moved to the Chicago area; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Gloria Twine was a dedicated public school
11employee in the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) system, where she
12was affectionately known as "Mama Twine" to many students; she
13retired after serving the community for many years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Gloria Twine was a faithful member of Carter
15Temple CME Church in Chicago, where she served for many years
16until her passing; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Gloria Twine served her community and regularly
18assisted with block parties to celebrate life, graduations,
19and seasons; she also served many aldermen and wards within
20the Chicago area; and

1    WHEREAS, Gloria Twine was preceded in death by her husband
2and her siblings, Audria M. Thomas, Simpson Huntington, Huey
3T. Thomas Jr., and Andrew L. Thomas, M.D.; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Gloria Twine is survived by her nephews, Huey L.
5(Felicia) Thomas, John F. (Marita) Thomas, and Andre' (Pamela)
6Thomas, M.D.; her niece, Darcine A. (Howard) Thomas March; her
7great-nephews, Triston Thomas, Andrew Thomas, and Gabriel
8March; her great-nieces, Kenzie, Kaylen, Mia, Chloe, and Leila
9Thomas and Angela Charles; her great-great-nieces, London
10Thomas, Victoria Charles, and Siri Charles; her
11great-great-nephews, Royal and Joel Charles; and a host of
12relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Gloria D. Thomas Twine and extend our sincere condolences to
16her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Gloria Twine as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
