2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Joseph M. "Joe" Vinzant of East |
4 | | Moline, who passed away on December 5, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Joe Vinzant was born to Cecil and Grace (Moore) |
6 | | Vinzant in Lineville, Iowa on July 3, 1936; he moved to Silvis |
7 | | at the age of two, where he lived until graduating from United |
8 | | Township High School in 1954; he enlisted in the U.S. Army in |
9 | | 1955 and was stationed in Japan at Tokyo Army Hospital until he |
10 | | was discharged in 1958; after serving his country, he attended |
11 | | Eastern Illinois University; he married Olive Fitch in 1962; |
12 | | later, he married Barbara Driscoll-Hall in Rock Island on |
13 | | March 22, 1974; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Joe Vinzant was the credit manager at Lutheran |
15 | | Hospital until 1989; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Joe Vinzant's biggest passion in life was playing |
17 | | tennis in high school and at Eastern Illinois University; he |
18 | | continued to play tennis well into his 70s; among his many |
19 | | accolades, he was top ranked in the state of Iowa for numerous |
20 | | years and achieved a #4 national ranking in 1996 with his son, |
21 | | Chad; he was elected to the Iowa Tennis Hall of Fame in 2001; |
22 | | however, more impressive than his accomplishments on the court |
