SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Frank Kozak of Schaumburg, who passed away on December 3, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Frank Kozak served the Village of Schaumburg for almost 40 years in a variety of capacities; he spent 26 years on the Plan Commission from 1983 to 2009; he was elected to the village board in 2009 and served as a trustee for 13 years; he served on a number of committees and commissions, including the Public Safety Committee, the Finance, Legal, Administration, General Government Committee, and the Planning, Building, and Development Committee; and

WHEREAS, Frank Kozak was honored to be the marshal of the 50th Labor Day Parade as part of the village's Septemberfest activities; he participated in all 50 years of the fest and parade throughout the village's history, including as the 1st chairman; and

WHEREAS, Frank Kozak served the community in many ways beyond his duties as an elected official; he was involved in organizations such as the Schaumburg Jaycees, where he served as a local president and state director, the Schaumburg Athletic Association, where he served as a soccer commissioner for four years, and the Schaumburg High School VIP program, supporting high school activities; he also volunteered with Misericordia for more than 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Frank Kozak was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, where he served as a lector and volunteer usher; and

WHEREAS, Frank Kozak was a loving husband, parent, and friend who will especially be remembered for his great sense of humor and dedicated work to make a difference in his community; and

WHEREAS, Frank Kozak was the husband of Char (Gastineau) Kozak; the father of Shiela (Don) Watson and Steven (Brenda) Kozak; the grandfather of Vicky, Matthew, Sarah, Jason, Kourtney, Ryan, Wyatt, Ashley, and Skylar; the great-grandfather of Austin, Lorenzo, and Isaiah; and the dear son of the late Josephine and Frank Kozak; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Frank Kozak and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Frank Kozak as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
