2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Michael J. Dolan of Oak Park, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on March 4, 2022 at the age of 84; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Michael Dolan was born in Joliet and raised in | ||||||
6 | Waukegan; he was the oldest of five children; he and his wife | ||||||
7 | of 57 years, Barbara, started their family in Downstate | ||||||
8 | Illinois while attending graduate school at Southern Illinois | ||||||
9 | University in Carbondale; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Michael Dolan spent his career as a psychology | ||||||
11 | administrator at multiple correctional facilities throughout | ||||||
12 | the State, beginning in 1971 when he was employed at | ||||||
13 | facilities for juvenile offenders by the Department of | ||||||
14 | Children and Family Services (DCFS); he later transferred to | ||||||
15 | the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC), specifically | ||||||
16 | the Menard Psychiatric Center, where he designed and | ||||||
17 | implemented group counseling programs; he then transferred to | ||||||
18 | the Dixon Correctional Center in Sterling in 1990, where he | ||||||
19 | established a hospice program for elderly offenders at the | ||||||
20 | center's Health Care Unit; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Michael Dolan and Barbara retired to Oak Park in | ||||||
22 | 2004; during this chapter, he was actively involved with the |

1 | Nineteenth Century Charitable Association and served on | ||||||
2 | numerous in-house committees; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Michael Dolan held a passion for acting and | ||||||
4 | theater with humor and expressive faces being his trademarks; | ||||||
5 | he was cast in plays into middle age; he also channeled his | ||||||
6 | inner performer during routine social interactions; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Michael Dolan enjoyed reading from many literary | ||||||
8 | genres, including biographies and historical fiction; all the | ||||||
9 | while, he kept up with updates in literature pertinent to his | ||||||
10 | profession; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Michael Dolan was known as the family | ||||||
12 | photographer, always carrying his camera to document ordinary | ||||||
13 | and extraordinary moments with his wife, children, and | ||||||
14 | grandchildren; he was also a notable home chef and handled the | ||||||
15 | grocery shopping for his family; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Michael Dolan is survived by his children, Shelly | ||||||
17 | (Tim Schaffert), Lynne (Mark Argyilan), and Sean (Hillary) | ||||||
18 | Dolan, and his grandchildren, Margot, Jacob, River, Fiona, and | ||||||
19 | Theo; therefore, be it

20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
21 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |

1 | Michael J. Dolan and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
2 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
3 | further

4 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
5 | presented to the family of Michael Dolan as an expression of | ||||||
6 | our deepest sympathy.
