2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of James T. "Jim" Cox of Port Byron, who |
4 | | passed away on November 19, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Cox was born to G. Thomas "Tommy" and Sandra |
6 | | "Sandy" (McNeal) Cox in Fort Meade, Maryland on December 5, |
7 | | 1970; being the son of a career naval serviceman, he grew up in |
8 | | multiple places and graduated from high school in Caribou, |
9 | | Maine; he served the U.S. Navy, where he spent his 12-year |
10 | | enlistment working in nuclear propulsion on submarines; he was |
11 | | honorably discharged in 2000; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Jim Cox worked as a training instructor at the |
13 | | Exelon Nuclear Generating Station in Cordova; over the course |
14 | | of his career, he held several leadership positions within the |
15 | | plant; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Jim Cox was a member of the First United |
17 | | Methodist Church in Port Byron; he enjoyed sports, especially |
18 | | hunting with his father and golfing, and he was an avid fan of |
19 | | the Washington Commanders; he was a loving father and husband |
20 | | and took great pride in his children and their achievements; |
