2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Robert Joseph "Bob" Pedelty, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on November 9, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Bob Pedelty was born in Streator to Robert and | ||||||
6 | Lucile Pedelty on January 22, 1933 at the end of the Great | ||||||
7 | Depression; after the passing of his parents, he and his | ||||||
8 | siblings lived with their paternal grandfather, Robert | ||||||
9 | Pedelty, and his father's sisters, Josephine Loughridge and | ||||||
10 | Doris Zelenak, and with their maternal grandparents, Thomas | ||||||
11 | and Johanna Langan; he graduated from St. Mary's Grade School | ||||||
12 | and Streator High School, where he found his love of cars, | ||||||
13 | which gave him his great mechanical ability; he married | ||||||
14 | Marilyn Baker on September 11, 1955; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Bob Pedelty worked at Palko's Gas Station but | ||||||
16 | began assisting his in-laws, LaVerne and Nathella Baker, | ||||||
17 | farming their land in Ransom; eventually, he found himself | ||||||
18 | farming full time and had purchased more of his own land; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Bob Pedelty served the community of Ransom in | ||||||
20 | many different roles, including as a board member for the | ||||||
21 | Ransom Grade School Board of Education from 1965 until 1979; | ||||||
22 | he served as a volunteer fireman on the Allen Township Fire |

1 | Department for many years and on the board of the Allen and | ||||||
2 | Otter Creek Insurance Company; and | ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, For several years, Bob Pedelty would rise early | ||||||
4 | and open Jerry's Tap in Ransom for all of his neighbors to have | ||||||
5 | a cup of coffee before they started their days; he was also a | ||||||
6 | member of the Ransom United Methodist Church and the Streator | ||||||
7 | Elk's Club for almost 50 years; he and Marilyn found a winter | ||||||
8 | home in Naples, Florida, where they built many long-lasting | ||||||
9 | friendships over the 20 years they wintered there; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Bob Pedelty was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
11 | his sister, Joann (Pedelty) Ferron; and his brother, John | ||||||
12 | "Jack" Pedelty; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Bob Pedelty is survived by his daughters, Sharon | ||||||
14 | (Spencer) McDonald, Barbara (Kevin) Conner, and Judy (Brad) | ||||||
15 | Verdun; his grandchildren, Tonya Stillwell (Ryan Dilley), | ||||||
16 | Travis (Kelly) McDonald, Brendan Conner (Shanon Wilkinson), | ||||||
17 | Amber (Eric) Metelka, Ryan Verdun (Megan Murray), and Kirsten | ||||||
18 | Verdun (Laura Trout); his great-grandchildren, Treyton | ||||||
19 | Stillwell, Myah Stillwell, Spencer McDonald, Charlotte | ||||||
20 | McDonald, Abram Metelka, and Lucille Metelka; his | ||||||
21 | sister-in-law, Maryann Pedelty; and many nieces and nephews; | ||||||
22 | therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
2 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
3 | Robert Joseph "Bob" Pedelty and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
4 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
5 | it further
| ||||||
6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
7 | presented to the family of Bob Pedelty as an expression of our | ||||||
8 | deepest sympathy.
