SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Carolyn Elaine Shanklin, who passed
4away on September 25, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Carolyn Shanklin was born to Ernestine Black and
6Melvin Ellington in Springfield on September 20, 1949; she
7married Leon Shanklin on May 27, 1967; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Carolyn Shanklin was a retired accountant for the
9State of Illinois; she was a phenomenal cook and started her
10own catering company, the Shanklin Family Connection; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Carolyn Shanklin was a devoted member of Zion
12Missionary Baptist Church; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Carolyn Shanklin enjoyed the arts, crafting, and
14spending time with her children and grandchildren; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Carolyn Shanklin was preceded in death by her
16parents; her grandson, Gary N. Shanklin; and her sister,
17Sandra Kay Irwin; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Carolyn Shanklin is survived by her husband, Leon
19Shanklin; her sons, Gregory Shanklin and Leon N. Shanklin; her

1sisters, Marcia Myles and Doris (Tony) Whitaker; her five
2grandchildren; her four great-grandchildren; her special loved
3one, Yolanda Perez; and a host of family members and friends;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Carolyn Elaine Shanklin and extend our sincere condolences to
8her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Carolyn Shanklin as an expression
12of our deepest sympathy.
