2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Eilene Taylor, who passed away on July |
4 | | 29, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Eilene Taylor was born to Clyde and Minnie Taylor |
6 | | on November 15, 1929; she earned her bachelor's degree in |
7 | | Education and her master's degree in Counseling; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Eilene Taylor was a teacher in the Bethalto |
9 | | School District for 29 years; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Eilene Taylor served as a volunteer at the Oasis |
11 | | Women's Center for 35 years, and she was recognized with the |
12 | | Governor's Volunteer Service Award for her dedication and |
13 | | devotion to helping abused women; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Eilene Taylor was very active in the fight for |
15 | | equal rights for women and often marched, rallied, and |
16 | | petitioned in support of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA); and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Eilene Taylor loved taking walks, reading, and |
18 | | drinking gin martinis and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan; |
19 | | she was very proud of the accomplishments of her children, |
20 | | grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and
|

1 | | WHEREAS, Eilene Taylor was preceded in death by her |
2 | | parents; her husband, Maurice Elfgen; her infant daughter, |
3 | | Lucinda Jane; her brother, Charles Taylor; her grandsons, |
4 | | Scott Rhodes and Ryan Aud; and her brother-in-law, Byron |
5 | | Sackett; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Eilene Taylor is survived by her twin sister, |
7 | | Darlene Sackett; her sister, Betty Taylor; her children, Jo |
8 | | (John) Gammage, Sandy (Mark) Rhodes, Nancy (Steve) Aud, and |
9 | | Catherine Elfgen; her grandchildren, Cary (Jan) Hunter, Greg |
10 | | Hunter, Brandon Gammage, Sean Gammage, Kimberly (Pat) |
11 | | Anderson, Rachelle (Jim) Crowe, Lucinda Tanksley, and Lera |
12 | | Leonberger; her 12 great-grandchildren; and her |
13 | | great-great-grandson; therefore, be it

14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
16 | | Eilene Taylor and extend our sincere condolences to her |
17 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
18 | | further

19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Eilene Taylor as an expression of |
21 | | our deepest sympathy.
