SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Larry Owen Tadlock, D.V.M. of the Quad Cities, who passed away on October 5, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Tadlock was born to Helen (Shull) and Grant Owen Tadlock in Moravia, Iowa on June 5, 1933; he served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1956, where he worked as a small arms weaponry instructor before being stationed in Germany; he married JoAn Callen in Moravia on January 10, 1954; he earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 1962; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Tadlock joined the veterinary practice of Dr. Ralph Ruggles in Moline in 1962; he was a partner at a clinic in Granite City from 1965 through 1971; he joined the Rock Island Animal Hospital as a partner in 1971, retiring as its sole proprietor in 2010; he also helped in the creation of the Animal Emergency Center of the Quad Cities; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Tadlock joined Rotary International in Granite City in 1969, and he was a member of the Rock Island Rotary Club from 1971 until his passing; he served the club and the district in numerous capacities, including as president and as a 15-year member and three-year chair of the Rotary Group Study Exchange Committee; he also maintained a perfect attendance record for nearly 40 years; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Tadlock was a skilled and accomplished woodworker; he enjoyed traveling with his family, including to Buffalo River in Arkansas, Yellowstone National Park, Lake Rathbun, and a special camping trip to the Oregon Coast with his wife; his passion for backpacking led him to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back, Glacier National Park, and various parts of the Colorado Rockies; he led 29 canoeing trips to the Boundary Waters of Canada; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Tadlock was preceded in death by his son, Mark Tadlock; his siblings, Basil Tadlock and Imogene Tisue; and his parents; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Tadlock is survived by his wife, JoAn; his daughters, Larianne (Chuck) Richards, Sherri (Craig) DeVrieze, and Jann (Dan) Koert; his grandchildren, Dillon (Molly) Behr, Ryan Proctor, Sabrina (Eladio) Pena, Adam (Samantha) Tadlock, and Jesse (Maxine Robles) Topping; his 11 great-grandchildren; his three great-great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Joe Tadlock, Irene Brooks, and Naomi Hutt; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Larry Owen Tadlock, D.V.M. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Tadlock as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
