SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Laurel Susan Bault of Elgin, who
4passed away on May 17, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was born to Lloyd James and Mae
6(Hall) McKenzie in Champaign on December 13, 1957; she was
7raised in Ottawa and attended Northern Illinois University;
8she married Kyle Bault on September 12, 1981; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was employed by Elgin District U-46
10as a parent liaison for Garfield Elementary School and as an
11AVID (Advanced via Individual Determination) coordinator at
12Tefft Middle School; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Laurel Bault made countless contributions to the
14Elgin community; she volunteered for American Little League,
15as a Girl Scout leader, and as an organizer for the annual
16Elgin CROP Walk; she served on the Citizen's Advisory Council
17for Elgin District U-46 and on the board of DuPage United and
18Fox River Valley Initiative, supporting a low income,
19affordable housing project in Elgin (the 1212 Larkin Project);
20she was education chairman for the Elgin Area of League of
21Women Voters; she ran for public office in 2006 and continued
22to support several campaigns throughout her lifetime; and

1    WHEREAS, Laurel Bault received the Marjorie Leonard Award
2for Community Service from the YMCA of Elgin in 2004; she was
3passionate about fighting for the rights of the underserved
4and overlooked in her community; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was deeply committed to her faith
6and an active member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church in
7Elgin, where she was instrumental as a founding board member
8and treasurer of Into Kenya, a mission serving the Irechelo
9Village of Kenya; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was a passionate Chicago Cubs fan;
11her lifelong joy was realized on November 2, 2016, when the
12Cubs finally clinched the World Series Championship; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was preceded in death by her parents
14and her twin sister, Mary Elizabeth McKenzie; and
 
15    WHEREAS, At the time of her passing, Laurel Bault was
16survived by her husband, Kyle; her children, Jason (Amanda
17Pinkston) Bault and Erin (Silas) Haltom; her sisters,
18Catherine (David) Eichelkraut, Margaret Johnson, and Ellen
19(Jack) Cress; her sister-in-law, Melissa (Marshall) Sayad; and
20her nieces and nephews, Blake (Jaime) Eichelkraut, Emily
21Eichelkraut, Sarah Clark (Johnson), and Scott Cress;

1therefore, be it
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Laurel Susan Bault and extend our sincere condolences to her
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Laurel Bault as an expression of our
9deepest sympathy.
