|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Laurel Susan Bault of Elgin, who |
4 | | passed away on May 17, 2020; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was born to Lloyd James and Mae |
6 | | (Hall) McKenzie in Champaign on December 13, 1957; she was |
7 | | raised in Ottawa and attended Northern Illinois University; |
8 | | she married Kyle Bault on September 12, 1981; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was employed by Elgin District U-46 |
10 | | as a parent liaison for Garfield Elementary School and as an |
11 | | AVID (Advanced via Individual Determination) coordinator at |
12 | | Tefft Middle School; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Laurel Bault made countless contributions to the |
14 | | Elgin community; she volunteered for American Little League, |
15 | | as a Girl Scout leader, and as an organizer for the annual |
16 | | Elgin CROP Walk; she served on the Citizen's Advisory Council |
17 | | for Elgin District U-46 and on the board of DuPage United and |
18 | | Fox River Valley Initiative, supporting a low income, |
19 | | affordable housing project in Elgin (the 1212 Larkin Project); |
20 | | she was education chairman for the Elgin Area of League of |
21 | | Women Voters; she ran for public office in 2006 and continued |
22 | | to support several campaigns throughout her lifetime; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Laurel Bault received the Marjorie Leonard Award |
2 | | for Community Service from the YMCA of Elgin in 2004; she was |
3 | | passionate about fighting for the rights of the underserved |
4 | | and overlooked in her community; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was deeply committed to her faith |
6 | | and an active member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church in |
7 | | Elgin, where she was instrumental as a founding board member |
8 | | and treasurer of Into Kenya, a mission serving the Irechelo |
9 | | Village of Kenya; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was a passionate Chicago Cubs fan; |
11 | | her lifelong joy was realized on November 2, 2016, when the |
12 | | Cubs finally clinched the World Series Championship; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was preceded in death by her parents |
14 | | and her twin sister, Mary Elizabeth McKenzie; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, At the time of her passing, Laurel Bault was |
16 | | survived by her husband, Kyle; her children, Jason (Amanda |
17 | | Pinkston) Bault and Erin (Silas) Haltom; her sisters, |
18 | | Catherine (David) Eichelkraut, Margaret Johnson, and Ellen |
19 | | (Jack) Cress; her sister-in-law, Melissa (Marshall) Sayad; and |
20 | | her nieces and nephews, Blake (Jaime) Eichelkraut, Emily |
21 | | Eichelkraut, Sarah Clark (Johnson), and Scott Cress; |

2 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
3 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
4 | | Laurel Susan Bault and extend our sincere condolences to her |
5 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
