|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of John C. "Jack" Schlicksup of Peoria, |
4 | | who passed away on August 14, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Jack Schlicksup was born to Patricia M. |
6 | | Schlicksup Nailon and Dr. Edward J. Schlicksup in Peoria on |
7 | | June 3, 1946; he graduated from Spalding High School in 1964; |
8 | | he attended Saint Bede Abbey for one year before completing |
9 | | his undergraduate degree at Loras College in 1969; he was |
10 | | drafted into the U.S. Army, and he served at Fort Hood in |
11 | | Killeen, Texas before he was honorably discharged in 1971; he |
12 | | earned his Master of Arts in Counseling in 1979; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Jack Schlicksup lived in Fairhope, Alabama for |
14 | | several years before moving back to Peoria, where he worked as |
15 | | a licensed clinical professional counselor for over 40 years; |
16 | | and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Jack Schlicksup was an active member of the |
18 | | Universalist Unitarian Church of Peoria, where he enjoyed |
19 | | fellowship and service in his community; he also enjoyed |
20 | | woodworking, reading, watching movies, playing pickleball, and |
21 | | singing songs around a campfire; and

1 | | WHEREAS, Jack Schlicksup's pride and joy were his children |
2 | | and grandchildren; he frequently traveled to their homes to |
3 | | celebrate milestones, entertaining the grandchildren with his |
4 | | singing and guitar strumming; after retirement, he spent many |
5 | | hours on the road traveling to visit friends and family all |
6 | | over the country; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Jack Schlicksup was preceded in death by his |
8 | | parents; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Jack Schlicksup is survived by his children, |
10 | | Daniel (Kim) Schlicksup, Emily (Brian) Schoemehl, Edward |
11 | | (Brandy) Schlicksup, and Anthony (Gina) Schlicksup; his |
12 | | grandchildren, Abbey (Stephen) Carey, Annie Schlicksup, Teddy |
13 | | Schlicksup, Maggie Schoemehl, Brendan Schoemehl, Lucy |
14 | | Schoemehl, Henry Schoemehl, Anton Schlicksup, Noah Schlicksup, |
15 | | Josie Schlicksup, Will Schlicksup, and Maya Schlicksup; his |
16 | | siblings, Edward (Cindy) Schlicksup Jr., Peter (Judy) |
17 | | Schlicksup, Margaret (Tom) Schueppert, Richard (Vicki) |
18 | | Schlicksup, Robert (Cinzia) Schlicksup, David (Terri) |
19 | | Schlicksup, Patrick (Chris) Schlicksup, and Marti (Kevin) |
20 | | Schlicksup-Sills; his stepbrother, Larry (Christine) Nailon; |
21 | | his stepsister, Elizabeth Nailon; and a host of nieces, |
22 | | nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended Schlicksup |

1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
3 | | John C. "Jack" Schlicksup and extend our sincere condolences |
4 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be |
5 | | it further

6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
7 | | presented to the family of Jack Schlicksup as an expression of |
8 | | our deepest sympathy.
