SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of John C. "Jack" Schlicksup of Peoria,
4who passed away on August 14, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack Schlicksup was born to Patricia M.
6Schlicksup Nailon and Dr. Edward J. Schlicksup in Peoria on
7June 3, 1946; he graduated from Spalding High School in 1964;
8he attended Saint Bede Abbey for one year before completing
9his undergraduate degree at Loras College in 1969; he was
10drafted into the U.S. Army, and he served at Fort Hood in
11Killeen, Texas before he was honorably discharged in 1971; he
12earned his Master of Arts in Counseling in 1979; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jack Schlicksup lived in Fairhope, Alabama for
14several years before moving back to Peoria, where he worked as
15a licensed clinical professional counselor for over 40 years;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jack Schlicksup was an active member of the
18Universalist Unitarian Church of Peoria, where he enjoyed
19fellowship and service in his community; he also enjoyed
20woodworking, reading, watching movies, playing pickleball, and
21singing songs around a campfire; and

1    WHEREAS, Jack Schlicksup's pride and joy were his children
2and grandchildren; he frequently traveled to their homes to
3celebrate milestones, entertaining the grandchildren with his
4singing and guitar strumming; after retirement, he spent many
5hours on the road traveling to visit friends and family all
6over the country; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Jack Schlicksup was preceded in death by his
8parents; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jack Schlicksup is survived by his children,
10Daniel (Kim) Schlicksup, Emily (Brian) Schoemehl, Edward
11(Brandy) Schlicksup, and Anthony (Gina) Schlicksup; his
12grandchildren, Abbey (Stephen) Carey, Annie Schlicksup, Teddy
13Schlicksup, Maggie Schoemehl, Brendan Schoemehl, Lucy
14Schoemehl, Henry Schoemehl, Anton Schlicksup, Noah Schlicksup,
15Josie Schlicksup, Will Schlicksup, and Maya Schlicksup; his
16siblings, Edward (Cindy) Schlicksup Jr., Peter (Judy)
17Schlicksup, Margaret (Tom) Schueppert, Richard (Vicki)
18Schlicksup, Robert (Cinzia) Schlicksup, David (Terri)
19Schlicksup, Patrick (Chris) Schlicksup, and Marti (Kevin)
20Schlicksup-Sills; his stepbrother, Larry (Christine) Nailon;
21his stepsister, Elizabeth Nailon; and a host of nieces,
22nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended Schlicksup
23family; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3John C. "Jack" Schlicksup and extend our sincere condolences
4to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
5it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Jack Schlicksup as an expression of
8our deepest sympathy.
