2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Harold Lyle Harmon of Milan, who |
4 | | passed away on July 25, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Harold Harmon was born in Shevlin, Minnesota to |
6 | | Jeremiah "Jerry" and Anna (Syverson) Harmon on October 12, |
7 | | 1932; he attended grade school in Shevlin and graduated from |
8 | | Bagley High School in 1950; he joined the U.S. Air Force in |
9 | | November 1950 and completed his basic training in California; |
10 | | he was later stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita |
11 | | Falls, Texas; he served four years of active duty, one in |
12 | | French Morocco, North Africa; in October 1960, he was |
13 | | honorably discharged; he married Colleen Ellis in the chapel |
14 | | at Sheppard Air Force Base on April 3, 1953; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Harold Harmon returned to Pengilly, Minnesota |
16 | | with Colleen, and he worked in the iron mines until he enrolled |
17 | | at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis and studied HVAC; |
18 | | starting his lifelong career, he began working for Central |
19 | | Electric in Davenport, Iowa; he and Colleen purchased a small |
20 | | home in Milan, and they started their family a short time |
21 | | later; they began major renovation and construction on their |
22 | | "Harmon Homestead" with help from family and friends; and
