SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Frank Spurgetis of East Moline, who
4passed away on July 10, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Frank Spurgetis was born to George and Katherine
6"Katina" (Birles) Spurgetis in East Moline on November 29,
71932; he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean
8Conflict from 1952 to 1956; he married Terry Lawrence in
9August 1960, and they had three daughters, Dena, Shelley, and
10Nicole; he later married Roxanne Smith in Bettendorf, Iowa on
11August 7, 1982, and they later married in the Greek Orthodox
12Church and had two sons, Phillip and Alex; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Frank Spurgetis worked in the Supply Procurement
14and Operations Center at the Rock Island Arsenal; he retired
15after 42 years of service in 1993; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Frank Spurgetis' passion was his family, and he
17enjoyed spending holidays and special occasions with his wife,
18children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; he was an
19avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Bulls; he enjoyed playing
20bingo with family and friends; he also enjoyed having
21breakfast with his friends, Pete Lingris, Tony Stopolous, and
22Spiro Pappaspiros; and

1    WHEREAS, Frank Spurgetis was preceded in death by his
2parents; his siblings, Jennie Karman, Anne Allen, Gus
3Spurgetis, and Tom Spurgetis; and his beloved dog, Kaylie; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Frank Spurgetis is survived by his wife of 39
5years, Roxanne; his daughters, Dena (Christian) Nicholas,
6Shelley Spurgetis, and Nicole (Pete) Fedele; his sons, Phillip
7(Carrie) Spurgetis and Alex (Amy) Spurgetis; his 11
8grandchildren; his nine great-grandchildren; and his brother,
9Socrates Spurgetis; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Frank Spurgetis and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Frank Spurgetis as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
