SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Donald D. "Don" Newton of Moline, who
4passed away on July 8, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Newton was born to Forrest and Helen (Dunton)
6Newton in Oskaloosa, Iowa on August 28, 1949; he attended
7schools in Fremont, Iowa before serving in the U.S. Navy; he
8married Sarah Jane (Reiling) West at the Port Byron First
9United Methodist Church on November 20, 1998; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Following his military service, Don Newton worked
11as a machinist for John Deere, retiring after 38 years in 2008;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Don Newton had a passion for nature, and he loved
14nothing more than listening to the wind and the trees; after
15retiring, he enjoyed taking care of his yard and home; he was
16an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Bulls; he loved eating
17chips and chocolate; he cherished his dog, Harley, and deeply
18loved his family; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Don Newton was preceded in death by his parents;
20his sister-in-law, Brenda Newton; and his great-granddaughter,
21Lily; and

1    WHEREAS, Don Newton is survived by his wife, Sarah Jane;
2his son, Don "D.J." (Tammy) Newton; his children, Tabitha
3Sanquist, Darrik (Kathy) West, and Lucas (Amanda) West; his
4siblings, Forrest Jr. (Bernadette) Newton, Richard "Dick"
5Newton, and Pam (Kenny) Sims; his grandchildren, Devon,
6Kimberly, Alysa, Ara Belle, Makayla, Gabriel, Emily, Kevin,
7Logan, Caden, and Penelope; his great-grandchildren, Jayden,
8Weston, Warren, and Natalie; and his many nieces, nephews, and
9cousins; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Donald D. "Don" Newton and extend our sincere condolences to
13his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Don Newton as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
