SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Patrick J. "Pat" VandeKerckhove of
4Moline, who passed away on June 18, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Pat VandeKerckhove was born to Albert and Loretta
6(DeWaganaere) VandeKerckhove in Moline on December 13, 1942;
7he married Karen Smith at Sacred Heart Church in Moline on May
818, 1968; he served in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in
9Ethiopia; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Pat VandeKerckhove worked as a letter carrier for
11the Moline Post Office; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Pat VandeKerckhove was a member of Sacred Heart
13Church in Moline, where he served as an usher; he was a past
14chief ranger of the Catholic Order of Foresters Sacred Heart
15Court 651 and past member of Boy Scout Troop 109, where he
16earned the Arrow Of Light badge; he was also a member of the
17Moline Activity Center, the Ex Servicemen's Camp, the Moline
18American Legion, the Center for Belgium Culture, the Moline
19Elks Club, the Friends Circle Club, and the Moline Post Office
20Union; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Pat VandeKerckhove enjoyed golfing, playing

1cards, and doing yard work; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Pat VandeKerckhove was preceded in death by his
3parents and his brother, Robert; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Pat VandeKerckhove is survived by his wife,
5Karen; his children, Thomas (Kristy) VandeKerckhove and
6Michele (Tim) Smith; his grandchildren, Daniel Smith, Isaac
7Smith, Aiden VandeKerckhove, and Drew VandeKerckhove; his
8sister, Nancy Prouty; and his brother, Michael (Carole)
9VandeKerckhove; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Patrick J. "Pat" VandeKerckhove and extend our sincere
13condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
14him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Pat VandeKerckhove as an expression
17of our deepest sympathy.
