|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Robert Alan "Bob" Gill, who passed |
4 | | away on April 29, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Gill was born in East St. Louis on March 3, |
6 | | 1951; he graduated from East St. Louis High School in 1969; he |
7 | | earned his bachelor's degree in Sociology from Southern |
8 | | Illinois University at Edwardsville; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Bob Gill spent much of his working life centered |
10 | | in the audiovisual (A/V) field; after college, he honed his |
11 | | skills at the production company Double Helix; he then ran the |
12 | | A/V departments at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City and |
13 | | St. Charles Community College; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Bob Gill loved nature; he was an avid camper and |
15 | | hiker throughout his life, capturing his experiences through |
16 | | his photography, which allowed others to see his unique |
17 | | perspective of the world; he was involved with the local |
18 | | Sierra Club for many years; he was especially proud of his |
19 | | recent work as a citizen advocate for Illinois environment |
20 | | issues; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Bob Gill's true passion was the learning and |
|

1 | | preservation of history with video through his production |
2 | | company Hometown Productions; his efforts ranged from videos |
3 | | about the early mound builders to the St. Louis World's Fair; |
4 | | he most recently received an award from the Illinois |
5 | | Historical Society for his documentary on the history of the |
6 | | Village of Leclaire; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Bob Gill had a great love for community; he gave |
8 | | his time and talents to family, friends, causes, and the |
9 | | communities in which he lived, including innumerable projects |
10 | | in and around Edwardsville; for the last several years of his |
11 | | life, he also helped establish and expand the Sunshine |
12 | | Cultural Arts Center in his beloved hometown of East St. |
13 | | Louis; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Bob Gill will be remembered as a true Renaissance |
15 | | man, a teacher, a videographer, an environmental activist, a |
16 | | musician, a photographer, and an amateur historian; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Bob Gill is survived by his daughter, Rebekah |
18 | | Visco (Evan); his grandchildren, Samantha Visco and Adam |
19 | | Visco; his siblings, William Gill, Kathy Deddens (Thomas), and |
20 | | James Gill (Joyce); his niece and nephews, Barb Hall (Brian |
21 | | Davidson), Jared Gill, and Steven Deddens; his great-nieces |
22 | | and great-nephews, Faith, Hope, Harrison, and George; his |
23 | | companion, Yvonne McCall, along with her beloved "Dash"; and |

1 | | his many cousins, friends, co-workers, and his vast Facebook |
2 | | family; therefore, be it
|
3 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
4 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
5 | | Robert Alan "Bob" Gill and extend our sincere condolences to |
6 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
7 | | further
|
8 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
9 | | presented to the family of Bob Gill as an expression of our |
10 | | deepest sympathy.
