SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of David S. "Dave" Joseph of East Peoria, who passed away on April 23, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Dave Joseph was born to Mike and Betty (Tamer) Joseph on June 21, 1943; he was raised on the south side of Peoria, where he worked in his parents' small grocery store; he attended the Spalding Institute in Peoria; he graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, where he was member of Theta Xi Fraternity and formed many lifetime friendships; he married Sharyn L. Allen in Chicago on August 25, 1968; and

WHEREAS, Dave Joseph pursued a career in real estate; he first worked for a leading Chicago commercial real estate firm, Baird and Warner; his career eventually brought him back to Peoria, where he worked for Commercial National Realty before starting his own firm, David Joseph Realtors Developers; his company evolved over the years, eventually becoming what is known today as The D. Joseph Companies, which has developed or currently owns numerous shopping centers, office complexes, medical facilities, and restaurants throughout Central Illinois and the United States; he was a developer who was ahead of his time and contributed much to the growth of Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Dave Joseph was deeply committed to his faith; he was a founding and faithful member of St. Sharbel Catholic Maronite Church in Peoria; he was granted the Pontifical Honor of Knight St. Gregory the Great by His Holiness Pope John Paul II on April 23, 1994, recognizing his kindness, his generosity to his church, and his caring for his community and fellow man; and

WHEREAS, Dave Joseph lived a quiet life of dedication and unconditional love for his family; his life was filled with love, success, and many good deeds; he will be remembered for being a good man; and

WHEREAS, Dave Joseph was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leon; and

WHEREAS, Dave Joseph is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharyn; his children, David II (Tressa), Bill (Shelly), Dan (Kelly), Bryan (Olivia), Denise (John) Navetta, and Brad (Sheena); his 22 grandchildren, Connor, Spencer, Alyssa, Christian, David III, Zachary, Natalie, Carmen, Charlie, Maria, Ashley, Blake, Joey, Katie, Annabelle, Brianna, Jack, Gianna, Faith, Johnny, Molly, and Jude; and his brother, Maurice Joseph; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of David S. "Dave" Joseph and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dave Joseph as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
