|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of Elmer L. Bradbury of Perry, who passed |
4 | | away on April 17, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Elmer Bradbury was born to Homer and Bertie |
6 | | Bradbury in Perry on March 15, 1920; he married Freida Marie |
7 | | Orr in Perry in May 1941, and she preceded him in death on July |
8 | | 28, 1998; until recently, he lived in or near Perry his entire |
9 | | life; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Elmer Bradbury was a farmer, banker, real estate |
11 | | appraiser, and John Deere dealer; he started the John Deere |
12 | | Dealership in Perry in 1947; in later years, he worked for the |
13 | | bank in Griggsville; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Elmer Bradbury served in a volunteer capacity in |
15 | | many groups and organizations, including Illini Hospital, the |
16 | | Pike County Health Department, and the Perry School District |
17 | | Boards; he was clerk of the Session for the Perry Presbyterian |
18 | | Church and treasurer of the Perry Cemetery Association for six |
19 | | decades; he served as township trustee for 30 years; he also |
20 | | served on boards and had memberships in the Pike County Red |
21 | | Cross, the Cancer Society, the Heart Association, the Cherokee |
22 | | District Boy Scouts, the 4H Federation, the Farm Bureau, the |

1 | | Extension Service, the Illinois Federation of Square Dancers, |
2 | | the Perry School Foundation, the Western Illinois Fair Board, |
3 | | the Mental Health Board, the Country Couples Club, and the |
4 | | Order of the Eastern Star; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Elmer Bradbury was a 77-year member of Perry |
6 | | Lodge #95, the Quincy Consistory, the Pike County Shrine Club, |
7 | | and Ansar Shrine, and he was very proud his sons and his |
8 | | grandsons became Masons; he entertained as a clown in parades |
9 | | and at hospitals and camps for children with special needs for |
10 | | over 35 years; many times, he was joined by his grandsons; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Elmer Bradbury was very proud of his entire |
12 | | family and was their biggest fan; he was known for his sense of |
13 | | humor and his ability to pull a prank; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Elmer Bradbury was preceded in death by his |
15 | | parents; his wife; his sisters, Ethel Cooley and Verna |
16 | | Cannall; his sons, John Wesley Bradbury and Kenneth Wayne |
17 | | Bradbury; and his daughter-in-law, Nancy Bradbury; and
|
18 | | WHEREAS, Elmer Bradbury is survived by his son, Keith |
19 | | Bradbury; his grandsons, Douglas Bradbury (Jennifer) and David |
20 | | Bradbury (Dr. Allison); and his great-grandchildren, Hope |
21 | | Kathryn Bradbury, Hendrick Wesley Bradbury, Kendall Jean |
22 | | Bradbury, and Vaughn Martin Bradbury; therefore, be it

1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
3 | | Elmer L. Bradbury and extend our sincere condolences to his |
4 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
5 | | further
|
6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
7 | | presented to the family of Elmer Bradbury as an expression of |
8 | | our deepest sympathy.
