2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Virginia Eileen Davenport of | ||||||
4 | Bethalto, who passed away on April 16, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Virginia Davenport was born to Hal Griffith and | ||||||
6 | Opal (King) Edwards in Athensville on March 1, 1933; she | ||||||
7 | graduated from Alton Memorial Nursing School in 1953; she | ||||||
8 | married Billy Davenport in Wood River on May 23, 1953, and he | ||||||
9 | preceded her in death; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Virginia Davenport worked as a nurse for 25 | ||||||
11 | years; she most recently worked at Eunice Smith before | ||||||
12 | retiring; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Virginia Davenport was a member of the First | ||||||
14 | Baptist Church in Bethalto; she enjoyed reading and solving | ||||||
15 | puzzles; in her younger years, she also enjoyed sewing | ||||||
16 | clothing; she loved her family most of all and enjoyed | ||||||
17 | spending time with them; she will be remembered for her | ||||||
18 | wonderful sense of humor; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Virginia Davenport was preceded in death by her | ||||||
20 | parents; her husband, Billy; her sister, Marjorie Stull; and | ||||||
21 | her brother, Harry Griffith; and

1 | WHEREAS, Virginia Davenport is survived by her children, | ||||||
2 | Steve Davenport (Lynn), Barb Caffrey (Jim), Sue Moradi (Ali), | ||||||
3 | and June Blankenship (Paul); her grandchildren, Celia Montes | ||||||
4 | (Johnny Bowman), Sophie Page (Josh), Tess Davenport, Hannah | ||||||
5 | Davenport (Nigel Lee), Nora Davenport, Michael Wesley | ||||||
6 | (Courtney), Erin Bickle (Rob), Stephen Wesley, Kevon Moradi | ||||||
7 | (Hillary), Daniel Moradi (Danielle), Comron Moradi (Rachel), | ||||||
8 | Zamaneh Zamanian (Jeremy Johnson), and Amanda Blankenship; her | ||||||
9 | 13 great-grandchildren; and her two great-great-grandchildren; | ||||||
10 | therefore, be it

11 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
12 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
13 | Virginia Eileen Davenport and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
14 | to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be | ||||||
15 | it further

16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
17 | presented to the family of Virginia Davenport as an expression | ||||||
18 | of our deepest sympathy.
