SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3recognize James William "Jim" Dodge for his service to the
4General Assembly and the State of Illinois; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Dodge received his Bachelor of Science in
6Agricultural Economics from the University of Illinois and
7earned his Juris Doctor from the Southern Illinois University
8School of Law; and
 
9    WHEREAS, In October 2011, James Dodge was appointed
10executive director of the Legislative Reference Bureau, a
11nonpartisan agency that is responsible for the drafting and
12preparation of legislation for the Illinois General Assembly,
13including bills, amendments, resolutions, and conference
14committee reports; and
 
15    WHEREAS, While serving as the executive director, James
16Dodge led the bureau's staff of attorneys, drafters, and
17typists and oversaw the production of thousands of pieces of
18legislation each year; and
 
19    WHEREAS, James Dodge is a former prosecutor and a former
20assistant attorney general of Illinois, and he previously
21served as deputy chief counsel to former President of the

1Illinois Senate John Cullerton from 2003 to 2011, where he
2helped write the rules for the impeachment trial of former
3Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich and was part of a multi-year
4project to rewrite and modernize the Illinois Criminal Code
5and Unified Code of Corrections; and
 
6    WHEREAS, James Dodge has served as an adjunct professor of
7law with Concord Law School since 2000, where he is heavily
8involved in curriculum revision and content creation for
9courses, and previously taught as an instructor at Lake Land
10College and Robert Morris University; and
 
11    WHEREAS, James Dodge is a commissioner of the National
12Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (the Uniform
13Laws Commission), serving on drafting and study committees for
14proposed uniform laws, including the Uniform Fiduciary Income
15and Principal Act (UFIPA), and his research has been published
16in a number of law journals and professional publications; and
 
17    WHEREAS, James Dodge is a member of the Illinois State Bar
18Association, the Illinois Bar Foundation, and the Academy of
19Legal Studies in Business; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
21ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize James
22William "Jim" Dodge for his service to the General Assembly

1and the State of Illinois, and we wish him well in his future
2endeavors; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to Jim Dodge as an expression of our esteem and
5respect.
