2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
3 | | to learn of the death of John E. Eastman of Moline, who passed |
4 | | away on March 30, 2022; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, John Eastman was born to Burtis and Cora (Satern) |
6 | | Eastman in Moline on May 5, 1932; he served in the U.S. Navy as |
7 | | a patternmaker on the USS Prairie from 1952 to 1955; he married |
8 | | Jeanette Soenksen at Grace Lutheran Church in DeWitt, Iowa on |
9 | | October 13, 1957; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, John Eastman worked as a patternmaker at Modern |
11 | | Pattern for over 27 years and then at various pattern shops in |
12 | | the Quad Cities; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, John Eastman was an active member of the Holy |
14 | | Cross Lutheran Church in Moline for 65 years; he was an usher, |
15 | | involved with the youth group, and a member of the board of |
16 | | elders and the property committee; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, While in the Navy, John Eastman had the |
18 | | opportunity to climb Mount Fuji in Japan; he thoroughly |
19 | | enjoyed the experience and sharing the story of it with his |
20 | | friends and family; he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan; he enjoyed |
21 | | going to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness for |

1 | | fishing, tenting, and backpacking with friends and family; he |
2 | | loved reading and riding his motorcycle; he was a lover of |
3 | | animals, especially his dog, Digger, and his many cats over |
4 | | the years; and

5 | | WHEREAS, John Eastman was preceded in death by his |
6 | | parents; his brother, Joseph Eastman; his brothers-in-law, |
7 | | Dick, Floyd, and Lynn Soenksen; and his best friend, Ray |
8 | | Anderson; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, John Eastman is survived by his wife; his |
10 | | daughters, Jeanne (Kelvin Faur) Eastman and Jill (Wayne) |
11 | | Eastman-Foss; his sisters-in-law, Rosella Eastman, Ann |
12 | | Soenksen, Judy Soenksen, and JoAnn (Dale) Greve; his |
13 | | brother-in-law, Milo (Norma) Soenksen; and his nieces and |
14 | | nephews, including Joe Eastman and Becky (Sid) Gardner; |
15 | | therefore, be it

17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
