SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Leslie Carter Jackson of Chicago, who
4passed away on March 5, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Leslie Jackson was born in Chicago on July 9,
61943; she attended Sexton Elementary School, Hirsch High
7School, and Rockford College (Rockford University); she
8married George Jackson in 1963; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Leslie Jackson retired from ComEd as Manager of
10Corporate Responsibility; she also had an early career in
11adoption and was the first African American who worked at the
12corporate office of The Quaker Oats Company; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Leslie Jackson served as a lifelong member of the
14Junior League; she was on the women's board of the Lincoln Park
15Zoo and was the president of the South Shore Cultural Center
16Advisory Board; her greatest love was her family, and she set
17an exemplary example as a wife, mother, and grandmother; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Leslie Jackson enjoyed music, playing the piano,
19reading, and playing tennis; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Leslie Jackson is survived by her husband of 59

1years, George; her daughter, Laura (Jeff) Kenton; and her
2granddaughters, Sydney and Ryan; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Leslie Carter Jackson and extend our sincere condolences to
6her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
7further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Leslie Jackson as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
