SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ronald Eugene "Ron" Boyd of Winter
4Springs, Florida, who passed away on February 8, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ron Boyd was born to Vivian Eileen Bridgewater
6and Ralph Eldin Boyd in Elmwood on January 19, 1941; he
7graduated from Rock Island High School in 1959 and later
8obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Augustana College, where he
9majored in Psychology and Music and was a member of the
10football team and the Pi Upsilon Gamma fraternity; he served
11in the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1966;
12he married Patricia A. Flores in Rock Island on June 10, 1963,
13and they had two children, Ronna S. Boyd and Jeffrey A. Boyd;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Ron Boyd began working for IBM shortly after
16graduating from college; he had a long career in the computer
17hardware and software sales industry that included stints with
18Digital Equipment Corporation and Apple, and he lived in East
19Moline, Burlington, Iowa, and Orlando, Florida; he most
20recently worked in the medical software sales industry; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Ron Boyd volunteered in his community with the
22Winter Springs Police Department and the Seminole County

1Sheriff's Office after retiring; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Ron Boyd was an avid weightlifter and softball
3player; earlier in life, he was an accomplished musician who
4played the trumpet in local Quad City bands; he enjoyed
5spending time with his grandchildren, relaxing at the beach,
6and playing with his dog, Gus; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Ron Boyd is survived by his family members,
8Patricia Boyd, Ronna Boyd, Jeff (Ann) Boyd, Nick Boyd, Conner
9Boyd, Chloe Boyd, Ralph Boyd Jr., and Robert Boyd, and his
10special friend, Terri Martel; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Ronald Eugene "Ron" Boyd and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Ron Boyd as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
